This year, I spent my Birthday at work and I could not be happier about it. 2025 marks 10 years since I joined the Magic coverage team. Pro Tour Aetherdrift was my ~50th Pro Tour as part of that team. Can’t think of a better birthday than getting to do this for a living 🙂

Saw some absolutely unhinged takes re: cheating today. Absolutely ran the gamut from no one did anything wrong to everyone is always cheating to it’s nbd to try and go back entire turns. I know we’re so back meme, but I genuinely feel there is a real need for much improvement.

Haven't been online enough to know what the consensus is on Aetherdrift, but after a handful of Arena events I've been a big fan of how the Speed mechanic has played out in practice. Very much a... race to achieve max speed and level up your cards. Makes for some fun and nonintuitive combat choices

Especially in these times, people will often attack me for my career choice following “children’s card games.” I don’t think they realize I was covering natural disasters before this. Well said. I can’t imagine using ChatGPT. I’ve written professionally for 18 years straight now. I wouldn’t even know how to compose an article if I wasn’t building it as I went. I don’t know how other people work, but I outline very little. I tell myself a story & let my fingers do their own thing
