Any good books on Late Stage Capitalism (preferably more recent than Lenin) or forecasting the future economic model? I feel that we’re at a crossroads where the old paradigm no longer works but the new system hasn’t yet emerged.

Even the train station looks sharp in Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden has a gorgeous downtown, definitely worth the visit should you be passing through the Frankfurt area

Conservatives always worry about IDs when it’s time to vote. Maybe we should also require voters to pass a basic competency test before they can access a ballot?

LinkedIn has really declined in the last year or so. Just painful to need to use it and to be exposed to large chunks of the user base sucking off billionaires along with the virtue signaling posts and AI spam.

If the Eagles can stop the evil that is the Chiefs we can defeat the traitors trying to destroy America!

I don’t want to get out over my skis, but I’m really enjoying watching the Chiefs suffer

Fascinating to see everyone riding Elon’s dick on LinkedIn. Like he’s going to notice their post and give them a million bucks. Fucking clowns.

Spoke to a good friend of mine deeply worried about the direction of the United States and frustrated by his inability to take action to fix the threat to our country. I told him to focus on what he can change and to remember that early setbacks and defeats can lead to long term victory.

One benefit of the upcoming food crisis under the Trump admin- we can get back to growing our own vegetables gardens. Maybe go wild with a small chicken coop or even a couple of pigs? For city folk, perhaps now is the chance to turn empty lots into Schrebergartens as in Germany?

I had to pop into Sicily for a bit of work and can recommend it to any travelers. Great food, gorgeous scenery, lovely old towns full of history, and the people were super friendly. Supposed it can get up to 40/45C in the summer which is also peak tourist season- so maybe aim for spring/fall.

Can’t remember if I said this already, but I worked my way through the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. Was good fun and I’m looking forward to the next book! And The Captives War by the team that made the Expanse is worth your time.

Even dictators have limits on their powers and need to please their constituents. When Trump’s voters are all unemployed, will they still back him? Will the ultra wealthy back him when they see their worth plummeting because companies are going broke? When they become international pariahs?

Trump and Elon are on a speed run to crash the economy. It’s like the don’t realize that unemployed, angry people have the most time and energy to protest and run wild. People working an 8+ hour shift to pay rent don’t camp outside the White House for week.

Honestly, I feel like Trump crashing the economy is the best thing that can happen in the long run. Yeah, I know people are going to hurt- but the sooner we’re all unemployed the sooner people will start pushing back. Only then can we truly remake and fix America.

With the inevitable failure of the Bills I find myself obliged to support the Eagles against the Chiefs.

Hoping the Bills beat the Chiefs (and then lose in the Super Bowl)

Anyone in the corporate security sector around to talk site and employee risk monitoring?

I keep bouncing between overthinking everything and being worried about the future and telling myself that it’ll work out. Not always easy to stay positive and go with the flow. And I know there are plenty of folks that have it worse than me, so just need to keep pushing. One day at a time.

I feel like now would be a great time for Democrats to start building a new platform and to begin clearly messaging what they stand for going forward. But I feel like nothing will change because the Dems are just as beholden to the donor class as Rs.

I’ve been taking it easy the last couple of days but it’s weirdly hard- I got it in my head that I needed to be doing something at all times, that I needed to constantly be productive. But it’s good to step away and just recharge for a bit.

Just worked my way through the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, was a fun read and I’m looking forward to the next book!

Honest advice for anyone thinking about creating their own startup- keep your day job as long as you can. Having financial stability gives you time to figure things out. Money is going to be the biggest pain point and a lot of startup stuff can be done as a side gig.

I’m starting to think that the Patriots might not win the Super Bowl this year 😅 @ezlazar.bsky.social

With talk of slashing VA health benefits, I just want to say that I’ve always had good experiences and been treated well by staff members. Sure, there’s room for improvement, but let’s not burn everything down to privatize something that just needs some small tweaks and TLC
