Unpopular opinion I have always thought that Ally McCoist deserved more time as Rangers manager.

💙Happy 56th Birthday Brian Laudrup. The former Bayern Munich player joined #Rangers in 1994 for £2.3m from Fiorentina. Over 4yrs the Hall of Famer played 150 games, scored 44 goals, including the goal that won #9IAR, and won 3 Titles, 1 Scottish Cup, 1 League Cup & 3 PotY Awards

💙Happy 52nd Birthday Shota Arveladze. Joined #Rangers in 2001 from Ajax for £3m. He played 132 games, scored 57 goals and won 2 Titles, 2 Scottish Cups & 2 League Cups, including a Treble and our Helicopter Sunday League triumph. He left Ibrox for free in 2005 to join AZ Alkmaar

On This Day In 1916: The Battle of Verdun began. It would last for over 300 days, the longest battle of the First World Wara and one of the bloodiest battles in history. Almost 300,000 soldiers died in an effort to "bleed France white."

On This Day In 1705: Admiral of the Fleet Edward Hawke, 1st Baron Hawke was born. He was a Royal Navy officer and politician.  As captain of the third-rate HMS Berwick, he took part in the Battle of Toulon in February 1744 during the War of the Austrian Succession.

21 Feb 1916 // HM Trawler Carlton, a minesweeper, was patrolling boom defences east of Folkestone when a mine exploded underneath her stern. A boat was launched before she sank, but capsized, and only two men of her 11 crew survived to be picked up an hour later. #RoyalNavy #WW1 #NavalHistory

21 Feb 1813 // 10-gun brig sloop HMS Rhodian struck a reef at the entrance to Port Royal, Jamaica, through mistaking her channel while approaching the harbour after dark. There were no casualties. Crew, guns and stores were all taken off before she sank. #RoyalNavy #Shipwreck #NavalHistory

21 Feb 1805 // 12-gun brig HMS Bouncer ran aground on a sandbank off the French coast between Dieppe and Boulogne, and began to leak as waves struck her. All crew were unhurt but were taken prisoner. The brig was later salvaged and taken into French service. #RoyalNavy #Shipwreck #NavalHistory
