My university bookstore manager tells me they cannot stock used copies of some Pearson textbooks because Pearson will only "Rent" a paperback directly from Pearson. I heard the goal was for Pearson to destroy the used textbook market. I'm never going to assign one of their books again.

I hear a lot of stories of harassment in academia. And the thing that always makes me the most upset is learning about the victim’s work. They’re literally always doing something important. Sometimes, their research could literally save lives. And so many of them are forced out of their careers.

Hey, so not to be a downer, but if you see this go check your carbon monoxide detector. If you don’t have one, get one - they’re cheap and easy to install. My husband just attended the funeral of his soccer buddy and his whole family who were wiped out by CO on Christmas Day and it’s so damn sad.
