Was cataloging in the fossil lab this past week. Featured are a finger bone (taxon unknown for now) from our bonebed, and a possible small Deinosuchus vertebra and crocodile rostrum donated and found from a Kate Cretaceous site also in Maryland. #fossilfriday

Shameful thing I’ve done as a father is convincing my daughter to eat her eggs because Ruby (Oviraptor from LandBeforeTime) eats them even though there’s 0 evidence the “egg thief” actually did that. I’ll break the real info about oviraptorosaurs and eggs to her…after she finishes breakfast.

My #paleoart #watercolor of the huge Triassic amphibian, Mastodonsaurus. I chose to depict two fighting to show the bizarre tusks that fit into sockets that go straight through the upper jaw in both an open and closed mouth.

The character vs how you drew the character #art #Gargoyles #watercolor

My 2021 #watercolor #paleoart of the huge theropod, #Giganotosaurus. Lowering the horizon to be closer to the dino’s feet and adding small birds communicates a sense of scale. 🦖🎨 #sciart

My realistic #pokemon team trend. Having a zookeeper paleontologist background justifies a lot of cool ones. Honestly though some of my regular pets have pokemon based EXACTLY on them as is. #realisticpokemonteam #pokemonteam #realisticpokemon

The jackdaws were raising chicks when we were in Ireland. This is a particularly cute fledgling peeking out of an old stone tower. Note the blue eyes🪶

I love photographing wildlife in graveyards. This jackdaw and European Goldfinch were on stones that are at least 1000 years old in Glendalough from our recent Ireland trip. 🪶

A female peregrine falcon parent feeding her young fledgling mid-flight (though it doesn’t end how you expect… 🧵 ⬇️) #birds #raptors

32lb hanging off my back didn’t stop my from climbing the Cliffs of Howth to see the nesting seabirds. Celebratory lifer oysters and beer after. (Better than pie for today)

So a Common Poorwill (a nocturnal bird) flew into a store! Here's a link to all the photos ebird.org/checklist/S2... 🪶

Luna moth at kitchen window! Good example of why it’s important to shut all lights before sleep. Imagine how much time and energy this gorgeous animal would have wasted when it should be finding a mate. 🌕🦋

And Lexington always was gay since the almost the beginning of the show back in the 90s. The writers just knew Disney would pull the plug if they were open about it at the time.

Haven’t shared my Aquilops watercolor here yet. This is one of the dinosaurs we occasionally find bones of here in Maryland. I love this toy breed ceratopsian. #paleoart

Happy pride month ❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

The Carnegie used my Tylosaurus for this without my permission or knowledge. Sucks since I’d have loved actually providing paleoart for them as an actual hired professional. Now I just feel crappy.

Let’s replace all the horse evolution displays (which misrepresent evolution as linear and goal-oriented) with chaotic tableaus of all the shapes crocodiles have been #FossilFriday

Here’s my #watercolor of the gigantic sauropod, Patagotitan. There are several individuals all found at the same site, but appeared to have died years apart. Likely a riverbed that seasonally dried up, where dehydrated animals would go and die in. 🦕 #paleoart
