PC is now the sixth platform I’ve played Monster Hunter on over the last two decades and I love how starting up every time makes me feel like I’ve never played before.

I was really impressed with Exoborne last week. First extraction game I genuinely enjoyed.

I need to get through one more week to the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds and Pirate Yakuza is not going to get me there. I love that Avowed is "Skyrim without wasting your time;" Yakuza is the exact opposite. Wait for onions! Punch brainless goons for $1! Listen to endless exposition! Nah

Somewhere in Redmond, WA, Phil is holding his head in both hands and asking a room full of people “Who thought this AI game announcement was a good idea?”

I love how every single video game exec touting generative AI tools implores us to "imagine the possibilities" before vanishing into a cloud of smoke and leaving behind a sludgy 300 pixel video running at 10 fps that has me convinced the possibilities mainly include giving me a migraine.

If you drive a Tesla, get rid of it. If you are still on Twitter, get off of it. There are no excuses any more.

Twitter can’t hurt you if you don’t look at it. Quit going there and your life will improve dramatically, I promise.

Worry not, console players.

The essence of cool

There are many words to describe The Substance but “subtle” does not appear on that list. “Subtext” doesn’t get much play either. Not sure how this movie picked up five Oscar nominations.

Congrats to all who have made it through Dry January. I started late due to a mid-month trip to Vegas so I still have 18 dull, joyless days ahead.

Two weeks ago, I went to Las Vegas to go hands-on with the upcoming extraction shooter, Exoborne, for GamesRadar. After 5 hours of playing the game and chatting with Shakmob's art director, here are my impressions: www.gamesradar.com/games/third-...

I need to pick up both series, pretty sure I had a production credit in them and a writing credit for the Akuma episode.

I’ve traveled all the way to Norway from California to sit in a darkened esports arena and watch someone else play. I love working in video games.

Even though it was the least cool of the four Street Fighter Clubs we put on, it was still a fun event and much more creative than anything I’ve done in a long time.

SEGA presents Seaman 2

Today, I was laid off from Digital Trends after three years with the company. I'm immediately open to any opportunities in journalism, PR or game dev. I would love to freelance and appear on podcasts in the meantime as well! If you'd like to reach out with an opportunity, DM me for my email!

This is Street Fighter if every character were Dan.

Nintendo Switch, 2 images

Based on the number of desperate, thirsty posts about the next Nintendo system I see, SEO for “Switch 2” must be booming. Coincidentally, media is dying and AI crap is filling up the Internet, but I’m sarcastically sure that these things are unrelated. Nice work, everyone, way to feed the algorithms

Hey folks, as you may know, we lost everything this week when the #EatonFire destroyed our #Altadena home. It took everything we had. We have the clothes on our back and not much else. If you feel able to help, it’s would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance. www.gofundme.com/f/help-shawn...

It's official: I am done with big festivals. It's been a good run, dating all the way back to Gathering of the Tribes and the first few Lollapaloozas, but this is no longer for me. How is it possible that there's an entire day with only a single artist of interested, and that artist is ICP?

If you’re an indie with no reputation, a trailer (that’s not in a live event) that starts with logos or a slow intro with no gameplay is like being a first time comic at an open mic and opening with your life story rather than opening with a joke.

Everyone here quoting and screen shotting dumb Tweets is making it really hard for the rest of us to ignore that platform. Kindly knock it off.

Facebook being flooded with AI accounts created by Facebook sure does whang in the final coffin nail on the issue of Facebook not understanding why people use(d) Facebook. Only reasons I go to that platform at this point is for past photo memories of my kids or to sell junk to my neighbors. Gg, Zuk

Is it too early to begin panicking that I’ve got two major media trips happening in the next four weeks? Yes it is. Is it time for an afternoon nap followed by some snacks? Yes it is.
