A great opportunity for an academic administrative lawyer to work with an excellent team at Glasgow: www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DMA933/l...

"[o]ur own Department of Government Efficiency" [have a good original idea challenge] and reference to the cost of building "a prison for murderers and rapists" [check out the maintenance, damages and human cost of not improving the prison estate]. Grim stuff.

Well that was a waste of a Rest is Entertainment podcast!

Parliament is a ‘they’. But it is also an ‘it’. Trying to expand my audience to public lawyers, parliamentary nerds and … metaphysicians

Over the course of this week the @ukcla.bsky.social will publish the fantastic contributions to an event I organised in July last year. Below you can find my introduction to the series. A very timely (from the point of view of my forthcoming seminar reading list) post on an important issue. Good to see @lizaoloughlin.bsky.social and Maurice Sunkin's consultation response getting a name check.

The greatest trick the right has pulled is persuading voters and institutions that the *left* promotes identify politics to the detriment of what matters to “real people”. But as a great man (well, Martin O’Neill) once said “if you get a reputation as an early riser you can lie in bed all day”.

Sick of DEI promoting these unqualified candidates.

Great point by noted furry and pornographer Ben Yong:

Happy inauguration day my American friends. Here is your president doing the rumbelows cup draw with saint and greavesie

🚨The first ever UNCRC Act case has been decided in Scotland! In a significant judgment, the High Court in Edinburgh has accepted our arguments and ruled that the Lord Advocate’s power to prosecute children is within the scope of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024. 1/5 #UNCRC

“Is this mounting pressure in the room with us right now?”

Gerry Adams is a polarising character. But beyond Adam's specifically, and even the politics surrounding compensation for a miscarriage of justice, there is a broader point about how governments are seen to function in law and how that applied to Adams. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...
