Seven years ago, we had tryouts at my club for a u9 boys team. There was a kid that several coaches didn’t want to take. “Too slow” “Not very athletic” But we fought for this kid. it was obvious even then that he was smart, a thinker. We had a lot of runners, we didn’t have a lot of thinkers…

I don't like beer, but I understand why other people do. But IPA just... it isn't people food. I feel guilty using it for slug traps.

I keep seeing "Why aren't the Americans striking" and "Because our healthcare is tied to our jobs" and it never gets less true or less depressing

Huh, so it wasnt just our imaginations....

Harp strings resonate in accordance with eachother, so if you make a sudden noise near one, the whole instrument will sound. Anyway, I've got a harp in my bedroom (I'm Welsh) and the other night a string snapped at 3am as they do occasionally, all 37 strings sounded magnificently and I shit myself.

Know your enemy. *laughs in nerd*

I'm reposting this. Now that my predictions have come true, folks may read these articles in a different light. Hopefully a clearer light. To fight the future, you need to grasp the past: sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/ten-articl...

Pro players are a statistically inconsequential byproduct of youth sports development. Not the primary product. Pass it on

The TLDR for the 7 ppl who see this...

A little ramble on youth sport and it's delivery. When I talk about obliquity, I mean to get away from the rigid linearity that we continue to embrace. We generally think "we need to build future prospects!" (IE "professionals"). The words steer our beliefs and delivery.

It was a tough decision to step back from the B09 team I'd coached since u10, but I obviously left them in good hands! My former assistant coaches are still preaching the possession game. Here's a sequence of 40 passes followed by a scoring chance from today's game. Amazing! vimeo.com/1054898506

How Emma Hayes hopes to revolutionize U.S. women's soccer — far beyond the USWNT. “I want people to be uncomfortable,” she says. And she wants you to consider “how [you]'ve been viewing the women's game through [a] male lens.” sports.yahoo.com/how-emma-hay...

The Grapefruit Gap: that period where you are old enough to enjoy eating grapefruit but not so old that the medication you're taking prevents you from eating grapefruit. Enjoy it while you can.

Marc-Andre Fleury records his 76th career shutout in his final start in Montreal to move into the top 10 all-time. Magnifique! 18th #mnwild win in the last 19 meetings with Montreal.

we need more jam bands started by people who have never even heard a single note of phish in their lives

Stop calling me Cassandra! I am Cosa Nostradamus, because all I see coming is transnational organized crime: sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/the-conflu...

We need more bands that jam that aren't Jam Bands

Looks like some Dem voters woke up to the fact that the party has long betraying Americans and enabling Trump. Here are some articles on why: sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/ten-articl...

Speaking of healthcare. Let's make @bsky.app the platform that fights misinformation. Some great follows are @drsusanoliver.bsky.social @jsm2334.bsky.social @therealtruther.bsky.social Let's get them more followers and engagement than other platforms and let health science accounts find a home

So I tried a thing today with moderation of blocking words/text and I blocked a url to a local newspaper that has been using SCABS from showing up and I’m happy to report that it works.
