"The breed was mild, canny, and good natured, deserving the praise they got; only the bulls were of uncertain temper, and so were usually common property of the town or the Art, kept fenced in Penis Meadow."

There's an article in the Guardian today drawing a parallel between present day resistance in the civil service and the GameStop stock kerfuffle of a few years back. Reading that article, I've come as close as I've ever come to understanding WTF that GameStop thing was about.

Profoundly lucky to have paying work right now. Also profoundly disinterested in doing any of it.

My grandmother's birthday is February 13th. My friend Reese's, the day after that, on February 14th. My mother's, today.

Happy Jimmy Carter day.

People say fearless when they mean brave. My friend Reese was a brave performer and a brave person. I knew her will enough to know she wasn't fearless, but she stuck her neck out anyway and damn if were not all a little better off that she did. HBD Reese

Dropped my car off at a shop this morning for what I'm hoping is a very minor repair. I told the mechanic with the most probable diagnosis was according to the internet and other friends, but then said "I'm not a car scientist". No reaction. Was either too early or I'm just not as funny as I think.

Whenever I need to feel a bit lighter, I remember skamtebord

Given everything we know about CTEs and football now, it's getting hard to deny that football is blood sport. You can also get blackballed from it for asking police to stop murdering people for no good reason. So, um, enjoy the game I guess. I'll be doing literally anything else.

I want to live in the Muppet Show.

The odds of this being right are very low. If you know any astrophysicists with 6 minutes to burn, feel free to point them my way so they can explain to me why I didn't just find some dark matter: medium.com/@chris_77087...

No one will ever fondly reminisce about all the ways you were completely normal. That which makes you weird makes you lovable.

I wonder if Han Solo was mostly just smuggling avocados and prescription drugs.

I think nitrogen is fine the way it is.

I darken the doorstop of our veterinarian about twice a year. But I get an email every time they close for an hour at lunch time.

Rail trails are cool, I guess, but another thing you could use old railways for is to build a new passenger rail network. Between the two, I'd rather have the trains.

A person seated in lotus, smiling, two birds upraised, levitating above a fire, below an oak tree. Heya heya hey, Heya heya

Remember when stores used to have things to buy on shelves? I guess our capitalist overlords have been so effective at impoverishing most people that there's no longer enough profit in providing basic goods.

Do I know anyone in Durham with a Pantone book? I just need, like, 30 minutes with one.

Thank fuck the AI from @googlesearch.bsky.social is offering to summarize a 4 word email that I composed my goddamned self. Definitely worth drowning the world in CO2 for this shit. What happened to the "Do no Evil" guys?

I've been meaning to try to wean myself of Google at some point. Finding a new home for email and photos won't be easy, but their insistence on ramming AI down my throat is a nice little motivator.

Who is "we"?

I don't know if there's some kind of interstellar civilization out there but I can't imagine they'd stumble across this place and say, "Yeah, let's make contact with them." Unless they were saying it sarcastically.

Latin was always vulgar.

In Australia, cats spin around in the other direction before lying down.

New old stock Dusky More Me, single MosFET boost pedal. First $100 or interesting trade offer gets it. I'm only intermittently looking at social media, so message me if you want me to see it in a timely manner.

Couldn't figure out why this nut wouldn't go on then I looked at it.

I saved the receipt for this drill press in case I needed to take it back. I think I'm past the return period now, and can finally throw away this receipt. Yes, I bought it at an Ace hardware that is also a pharmacy.

Just a quick note to guitar magazine editors: cord and chord are different words with different spellings.

I asked @tombrantleyrewinds to rewind these pickups to vintage Guild specs. I don't have a lot of vintage Guild experience, but they sound pretty great to me. Lots of clarity, not a super high output. Yummy!

This app doesn't allow enough text. Find me somewhere else for context.

Smooth sailing so far on this rewire. This might be a good stopping point for tonight. Would hate to spike my cortisol right before bed.

No chocolate? No nuts? No thanks!

Please don't serialize functions.

At the Crosswalk a poem by Chris Rossi At the crosswalk, Will the cop stop? Probably not. Nope.
