We’re doing what now? wapo.st/416Gk38

Seeing some posts from people learning the only thing Philly sports fans handle worse than losing…is winning. The last time we were able to handle this kind of thing with any semblance of dignity was the 1980 World Series. Now, there’s nothing to do but wait for the alcohol to burn off.

As a life-long Philly-area resident, even though I don’t follow this sport, I’m still contractually obligated, so… Go birds.

Truth.

Oh ffs, someone warn ERs that a bunch of idiots are inbound. They’ll probably be blaming “the libs” for their pee turning blue.

Battles won. The war hasn’t even really started yet, but these are good things.

The theme for the next four years is “We’re gonna do whatever the hell we want, whether it’s legal or even makes sense, then wait to see how loud the complaints are.” Which I guess makes sense from the twitter administration.

I’ve been using Bluesky via Safari on iPad and often the response time after clicking on something is so slow I just end up tabbing away. I’d attributed it to growing pains but maybe it’s on my end? Does anyone have a better app/browser to use Bsky on iPad with less frustration?

Missouri’s state senate and its gerrymandered republican hyper-majority have published a website to submit reports of waste and inefficiency, if any of my fellow residents are interested. So, essentially every bill proposed by one of those imbeciles and every performative suit filed by AG Bailey.

Tenure must be one hell of a drug.

Dear Kindle Assistive Reader, Lung is a noun; lunge is a verb. I promise you, if you come across the word “lunged” in a book I’m reading, there’s a 99% chance it does NOT involve someone being pelted by pulmonary organs and you can use the second pronunciation. 1/2

I was worried this place would be too cerebral for me. One of the few things I miss about the bad place are the funny “bad takes.” But thanks to @dbeecher.bsky.social, I now know that the gov banning of TikTok is to secretly cheat 1A so we can’t talk about communism.

Our company once brought in a German teacher, born in Germany, whose day job was teaching German at a state university. She said words with “ie” or “ei” in them had to be learned individually to know whether they were pronounced “eye” or “ee”. (cont)

Need a new dryer and figure now’s the time to get it. Looking through what’s available at my local scratch & dent, I found this pic. It’s 2025. If we can’t have flying cars, then we deserve a dryer that folds clothes, dammit.

When I was 15, we had a sleep over at my friend’s house. Her teetotaler mom had a cold and over-indulged in NyQuil. There was singing, dancing, and a song mangling my name from Christine to Chrisseltine which got shortened to Chrissel. It stuck 🤷🏻‍♀️

INSULIN NEEDED - if anyone can spare insulin, especially the more shelf-stable pens, please bring them to: Bernie's Coffee Shop 6101 Wilshire Blvd before 6pm today

Plan B has a shelf life of 4 years. How interesting. I suppose as long as you checked the exp date on the package, someone could avoid little annoyances in obtaining it, like trips to the drug store or, you know, whatever else might happen, for awhile.

So, I’ve been *severely* limiting my politics/news/dumbass exposure the past couple months because I hope to spend a lot of the next four years in active denial. (I’m not maladaptive; YOU’RE maladaptive!) 1/
