“I think in another century I would maybe been a portrait painter because I find it very easy to draw and do people’s portraits, but there’s no point anymore because of photography."

“I love painting people. I like to do a very quick sketch with paint on the canvas and then complete the portrait later when I can really meditate on it."

Good morning! First of all I must say how sad I was to hear of the passing of David Johansen. A friend and major contributor to music… huge inspiration. A gentleman, always well turned out (the very definition of ‘cool’), and excellent cook (Beans, rice and corn on the cob……

Hi all I was talking to Johnny Marr the other day and we were saying how nothing is ‘cool’ anymore. Has anyone else noticed that? It used to be… “That guy looks cool” Now it’s “That guy’s hot” So whatever happened to cool?

“I just go into it... you start with nothing then you just keep adding colours and shapes. It just sort of flows - It’s very much like singing. I like the energy in these abstract pieces. When I feel that I can’t go anywhere else with them, it’s over. The abstract paintings always surprise me.”

“I look at Van Gogh’s flowers and what he did was instead of copying nature – and nature is perfect – he interpreted it in an almost spiritual way. I don’t have an atheist’s view of things, especially not art."

“Flowers are just exhilarating to be around. When you are going somewhere and you pass a rose you stop and smell it and then you keep walking, but bring the roses home and you can stand in front of them for an hour or so at a time."

Great to see the Bob Dylan ‘A Complete Unknown’ film doing so well… I hope anyone who sees it will go home and trawl through archive footage of him. Nothing better than the real thing!

"Well, maybe my guitar that I use on stage. I’m not a big collector and I don’t know what year it was built, but it certainly serves me well and I’m very fond of it." - Chrissie via Vice in 2017 when asked 'What's the nicest thing you own?'. 📸 Paige K Parsons -CHHQ

“These paintings were painted on the day that I found out that Jeff Beck had died. He was a dear friend and the world’s greatest guitar player; they are done in primary colours, yellow red and blue – while I don’t think it represents him, in a way it felt very kind of like Jeff.”
