Just an art teacher enjoy breakfast with Bob Ross and Russell Wrankle. Here is to another day.

Nothing better than introducing students to an artist and seeing them connect by seeing themselves in the artist.

Sometimes my work has meaning.

Started a new sculpted chalice. This one is going to be fun to get the base on and through the drying process.

Just another kiln unloading video. The follies of mankind, drilling for oil and boot licking go hand in hand. #clay #ceramic #art

I had to pay the studio supervisor today. She works hard for her scratch.

You can’t spell Stonewall with out T. This government of orange has removed all mention of Transgender and Queer from the Stonewall National Monument website. Yet just another thing they have done to marginalize and disenfranchise people.

Just a reminder that my show is up through the month of March at the Mary C Cultural Center in Ocean Springs, Ms. I’ll be giving an artist talk on March 13th.

Got to clean up the fiddly bits and don’t breathe the dust.

Here is a beauty with some of that stank I talked about yesterday.

Want to make that texture pop? Then stank it up. #clay #ceramics #norizz #sculpture #diy #howto #art

My wife and I went to the opening reception of Shepard Fairey’s “Warning Signs” at Mortal Machine Gallery. It was a great time and we got to fangirl so hard we forgot to get him to sign the show card and had to wait in line second time. I also got spotted by 3 former students, which was a surprise.

A few of my favs from the Alabama clay conference. I’ll post the artists in comments.

Anyone else find it humorous that those how like the taste of boot leather still get crushed by the same boot as the rest of us? Just me? Ok. #clay #sculpture

Spent the day being the teacher Fox News lies about, and I’m going to do it again tomorrow just like I have done for the last 20 years. I feel there is no higher calling than to treat people with dignity, respect and to give them the tools to think critically. #artteacherlife

If you don’t know Dillan Ladner and their art yet here is a short intro. I had to add the llama sculpture to my collection. Just look at its wee hands holding a space for a flower. 🌼. If you are in the Atlanta area Dillan is currently an artist in residence Art center west in Roswell Georgia.

I got to meet Curtis Houston at the Alabama Clay Conference this weekend. This is a cup he made that wife found while thrift shopping. It also turned out we went to USM at the same time but never knew each other. Small big world.

Oh joy of joys I got to meet the James Watkins and see his work in person. The Alabama Clay Conference never fails to deliver the best of clay.

In my ceramics class I have the students make texture rollers, signature stamps and texture stamps using the 3D printer. Giving them this experience with technology really opens up opportunities for the future and their art they may not have thought about. #3dprinting

The show opens tonight at the Mary C O’Keefe cultural center in ocean springs, ms. The exhibit will be up until March if you are in the area.

Last week there was 7 inches of snow on the ground at my house. The last time we had snow was 7 years ago a was an inch. In celebration of this effect from climate change (less ice in the Arctic lets the polar vortex break free and blast south) I took some old sculptures out for a photo shoot.

Another chalice dedicated to the human need to destroy its environment and lead itself to its own extinction. Mars can’t save us, only we can, but will we even bother? #sculpture #clay #art

Here are the pieces with a little color and a little stank. They await a little glaze and a final kiln ride. It has been a while since I made new work and I’m loving where these pieces are taking my work.

Hey look more underglaze application. I am now inclined to believe my students when they say I do too much. But is it really too much, or is it just what the work called for? 🤷🏻‍♂️ #clay #sculpture #art #nature #seabirds #pollution

Shaping clay... the connection here is so moving. How incredible is the work of @jago.artist?! #beautifulbizarre #contemporaryart #sculpture #clay #sculpturelovers #artcollectors #artmagazine #artinspo #art

Adding some color to the plastistone section of this sculpted chalice. #nature #art #maximalism #pollution #clay #sculpture

*whispers into the void* "your art will be declared degenerate, so you might as well lean into it."
