CEQA exemption for infill housing is about to become law. It is not possible to overstate how important this is, how big a win it is.

From @kitoconnell.com in the archives: “The reality is that gender-affirming medical care for trans youth is not controversial within mainstream medicine.” But that consensus hasn't stopped the New York Times from treating anti-trans organizations as experts on transgender health.

These efforts to manufacture hatred and resentment against trans people are disgusting and if you think they will be mollified by ceding ground on “just sports” or whatever you are kidding yourself. It’s hate and bigotry and fear, the specifics beyond that? They don’t care.

1. After the Skrmetti decision, the New York Times has published 6 articles dancing on the graves of trans youth and spreading disinformation on care. It was cited 7 times in the ruling. Read my latest on what will be a black stain on the NYT for a generation. Subscribe to support my journalism.

The NYT was cited in the Supreme Court ruling used to strip trans people of healthcare. This is EXACTLY WHY the “just asking questions” crowd of centrist edgelord journalists are dangerous. They launder transphobia through faux neutral “debate” and act like it’s intellectual curiosity

The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.

Today I am yet again reminded of the urgent need to make it easier to build homes in California so that vulnerable people can actually afford to live in a state that protects them. What good are our vaunted protections if they come with an exorbitant price tag?

Breaking: The Trevor Project received a stop-work order last night on its contract with the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. The Trump administration is eliminating the option for LGBTQ callers to the hotline to press 3 and connect with someone who specializes in LGBTQ mental health.

this report from media matters is fucking wild. fox news has aired 424 segments about trans athletes since feb 5. the week democrats vetoed the GOP trans sports ban bill, they aired 59 segments. www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox...

The claims that McIver, Padilla, and Lander were committing assault should make you question every other time LEOs claim assault or resisting arrest, if you weren’t already.

“It should be illegal for you to be mean to me and legal for me to kill you” is basically the Republican platform.

These charges won't stick and they aren't intended to stick. But by painting Democratic politicians as violent criminals, they do reinforce a permission structure for things like Melissa Hortman's assassination.

It didn’t originate with him but a lot of the Mamdani coverage proceeds from the idea that Muslims are antisemitic until proven innocent

political press is doing a real disservice by basically not reporting the nuances of public opinion on deportations, and creating the appearance that most americans support the stephen miller-style gestapo tactics

The radicalization of the American right is THE story of US politics over the last four decades and political reporters are still not allowed to talk about it

the clear message of this administration is that if your city or state didn’t vote for Donald Trump you do not have the right to self-governance and that will be enforced by the United States military we know what they are

We don't really have a free or functioning press if they are required to pretend not to know conclusively that Stephen Miller is an avowed white supremacist

Commuter benefits shape travel habits. New study finds Denverites are: 🔹 195% more likely to drive to work if they get free/subsidized parking 🔹 789% more likely to bike if secure bike parking is offered 🔹 56% more likely to use transit if they get a subsidized pass ascelibrary.org/doi/abs/10.1...

For the past two years some of the largest voices on Twitter, including some elected Republicans, have been playing a fun game called "post a photo of any trans person minding their own business and see how quickly we can ruin their entire life"

Musk and Trump will be responsible for more death’s than the Khmer Rouge through the destruction of PEPFAR alone is something I think about constantly.

well well well, if it isn't the thing everyone said would happen

Some senator no one cares about: now sir please explain why you cut 80% of the budget for Alzheimer’s re- RFK Jr: now *deep breath* *hacking cough* wreeeeeee so pffshhff Senator: sir I- RFK Jr: *sound of a trolley car* *mouth raspberries* *vomits* the hrump allegations ugh yeah *belch* yrarghhy

The level of surveillance and policing demanded by transphobia will always be more disruptive to your life than the rights and demands of trans people ourselves

Friendly reminder: Renters are real people (and families, and neighbors). Apartments are real homes. Almost all of us are renters at some point in our lives. Choices are good.

Garcia to Noem: "Can you commit to just letting his mother know mother to mother if Andry is alive? He was given an asylum appointment by the United States government." (Noem wouldn't commit to it.)

Sing it from the rooftops: congestion pricing in NYC is an unambiguous triumph. It is succeeding beyond its backers wildest aspirations & none of the second-order effects people worried about have come to pass. It's a pure win. Celebrate it! Talk about it! For once, let's own the f'ing narrative.

i think this shit is an affront to this country and its traditions

They’re specifically targeting LGBTQ-related health research. Half of the NIH research grants they’ve terminated relate to LGBTQ health. When we say they don’t care if we die, we’re not being dramatic. They truly don’t care. They want us gone.

they want your kids to die and are doing everything they can to ensure that outcome

It was disturbing to be in court today. As I wrote: [I]n an alarming sign for LGBTQ people, it was clear that at least three of the justices believe that describing queer people accurately — acknowledging their equal existence — amounts to taking sides or trying to “influence” children.

my plan to get people to start having more kids? make climate change worse. abolish the department of education. also milk is poison

morally it is obviously the right thing to do cynically, I think it’s also the right play, because immigration is what’s been propping up Trump’s approval it highlights how his policy there is just as capricious and stupid and fundamentally against American principles as the rest of it

a better world is possible

The U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services has repeatedly claimed: “If you’re healthy, it’s almost impossible to die from an infectious disease in modern times.” That is dangerously false. www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...

She wrote an op-ed in her college paper. That's the pretext.

90 percent. They sent innocent people to a gulag so Trump could look like a tough guy. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Unfortunately for a large number of americans their ideal existence is being a plantation owner in 1820s mississippi and they feel a deep personal void that they were born in a time that denied them the opportunity bsky.app/profile/mari...
