An important reminder that artists (and art) can help save the world. we are a passionate group of people who’s empathy, creativity and love for the world can lead to incredible acts of resistance. Support and protect artists!

US farmers sold $2 billion of food to USAID. Not any more. - US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID - $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes. - Food stranded in Houston - Aid stopped in transit. The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.

The MF can try to cancel Black History Month but it's still Black History Month. (You should always be reading Black writers. All the time. But here's a list if you wanna get in the mood.)

Ok here is the thing with action/praxis/protest/showing up: Sometimes you contribute by being a megaphone. Sometimes by being a wallet. Sometimes by being a physical body. Sometimes by being fuel or being relief. If you can’t be one thing at any given moment you can almost certainly be another.

Remember that weird thing Trump said about Elon and the PA "vote counting computers?" Now imagine Elon has the USA federal payments system. Have a great day.

Elon Musk staff has been caught installing hard drives inside the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Treasury Department, and the General Services Administration (GSA).

This is crucial reporting from @katherinejwu.com. Among the data being scrubbed is “the agency’s AtlasPlus tool, which contains nearly 20 years of CDC surveillance data on HIV, hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis…” www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

One way you can do that? Wear a respirator. Whenever you’re in public, mask up. It may not seem radical but in the face of mask bans, ugly laws and unmitigated covid spread… it’s a strong show of resistance and solidarity.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

On that note: Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day. Cis people: Repost trans authors' book links. Cis people who want to complain about being excluded: gtfo

My Election Day tradition is to post regular timeline cleanses, so you can pause the doomscroll, and rest your eyes and your spirit with art. I'm going to do the same today. We can use all the beauty we can find. I also invite you to visit this virtual exhibition: christikraft.co/waterscapes-...

Need a break? Check out this virtual art exhibition: christikraft.co/waterscapes-... (Save this link if you plan to be off social media tomorrow!) I recommend a leisurely wander with a beverage and some soft instrumental music or water sounds in your space đź’™ #CalmInTheStorm

The amazing part isn’t just the wrong answer, but that the explanation it gives is accurate — and it *simply doesn’t know that 27 is a smaller number than 32.* Billions of dollars spent to make a black box machine that doesn’t know something elementary school kids know.

If you’re still masking - thank you. If you’re still trying to convince others to mask - thank you. If you understand the benefit of a well fitted respirator - you’re awesome. Masking isn’t just a way to safeguard one’s health. It’s an act of solidarity with disabled & marginalized communities.

All Los Angeles Public Library locations are providing free N95 masks. Libraries are essential!

I’m sick of living through Wikipedia entries.

This is disgusting. We are failing the most vulnerable. Those with the least agency. People who can’t protect themselves. No one deserves to get covid because they required emergency care. What’s worse they now have a confirmed covid case right beside pregnant & postpartum mothers (and babies) /1

BREAKING: The United States has recorded its first fatal case of H5N1 bird flu. The death was reported by the Louisiana Department of Health. The patient contracted H5N1 after exposure to a combination of a non-commercial backyard flock and wild birds. ldh.la.gov/news/H5N1-de...

“Only old people get really sick from COVID now” Nope, it’s also babies. People in their 70-80s and babies are people hospitalized at the same rate.

President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100. He was a symbol of what is best about America: kindness, compassion, duty and service. He will be missed, most of all by those who long for a return of that kind of country, led by a man with such strength of character.

“Jimmy Carter’s importance to faith and public life was reintroducing into the public square the principles that animated nineteenth-century evangelicals: concern for the poor, racial equality, peacemaking, human rights and equality for women.”

Rest in peace, Mr. President. Thank you, Jimmy Carter, for showing our nation and the entire world what compassion, service, and kindness can be.

Jimmy Carter was a man who lived his values, dedicated to peace, service, and making the world a better place. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched. Rest in peace, President Carter.

Gentle reminder today to anyone who needs it: you can celebrate today, (or any other day, if you prefer) in any way you like, or not at all. You don’t have to live up to anyone’s expectations of you. You deserve kindness.

it’s that time again

This needs to stop. It needed to stop decades ago. Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde, Madison... generations of school shootings that should never have happened. This is our country's legacy. This is who we are, protecting guns instead of children. www.channel3000.com/news/five-de...
