It took 3 years and so much patience. My hardest rescue ever. Britney just arrived to her forever home in Scotland… niallharbison.substack.com/p/britney-sp...

Just received this encouraging update from Senator Hoffman's wife, Yvette, on their recovery in the hospital. Grateful for their progress and will continue to keep them in our prayers.

Thank you Tim

Gonna celebrate her passion and her strategy and her fierceness. Melissa Hortman was a giant in our political landscape, the most consequential speaker in MN history.

Good Morning! It is Sunday June 15. In 1878 Margaret Ives Abbott was born. She was an American amateur golfer. She was the first American woman to win an Olympic event: the women's golf tournament at the 1900 Summer Olympics.

Last night, after talking about our Father’s Day dinner, I dreamed of my late father. He was a biologist - he made me bold, taught me love science and took me around the world. This is what he said as he flew into a coup: #BeBold #HappyFathersDay 🧪 www.sleuthsayers.org/2018/09/my-f...

The most consequential Speaker in state history.

Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman was a friend who worked with Gabby to stop gun violence. We’re thinking of her children, who've now lost both their parents, and we’re praying for Sen. Hoffman and his wife, who are still fighting for their lives. Stay strong.

As we get ready to celebrate #FathersDay, let's think of the farm worker fathers who works so hard to bring food to our tables. Many are currently living in fear due to raids by immigration enforcement. #WeFeedYou

Words just fail when I try to tell you how cool Speaker Melissa Hortman was. She was a dear friend, amazing public servant, and a great person. Can’t believe she’s gone. Heaven help her family and all of us. Rest in Power.

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.

She didn't chase the spotlight—she built coalitions, held the line, and got things done. A true Minnesotan leader. Thank you, Melissa Hortman, for your steady hand and fierce heart. You made this state better. #mnleg

The Denver “No Kings” demonstration is 95-year-old Dolores Taylor’s first protest. Seeing other people her age at the protest gives her hope, she said. “We’re here, coming out against the Trump administration, because this is not the American way,” she said. 📸@brumerdelilah.bsky.social

Walz announces that Rep. Melissa Hortman is dead as a result of a "politically motivated assassination"

Seniors in Salt Lake City heading out for a #nokingsprotest in front of their assisted living facility.

A Democratic Mayor arrested. A Democratic Congresswoman indicted. A Democratic Senator tackled and detained. A Democratic State Representative killed. A Democratic State Representative in critical condition. We can all see where this is going.

Well past time for big city mayors to call for the arrest of anyone who claims to be law enforcement but wears a mask and/or won’t identify themselves

It should not be lost on anyone that Minnesota Rep Melissa Hortman, who was shot to death in her home last night by an assassin, was a gun safety advocate who worked tirelessly to protect her constituents from gun violence.

Weingarten: Their attacks on public education are relentless and why? Because they fear knowledge. Why do they fear teachers? They fear us because we teach critical thinking… their brand of greed, power, and privilege cannot survive in a democracy of diverse educated citizens

Rep Hortman and I were classmates at the Kennedy School and graduated together in 2018. It took me a moment to realize the person who I remember as deeply service driven and incredibly bright was the victim of last night’s heinous act. She was a bright light and made us all better.

Melissa Hortman, a former Minnesota House speaker, was assassinated early Saturday in what Gov. Tim Walz called “an act of targeted political violence.” Here’s a look at Hortman’s legislative history and legacy on key policies.

On the horrifying shooting in Minnesota.

Maximus could not be more chilled out since being rescued 🥰

Here’s former ABC reporter Terry Moran’s first post on Substack. Thank you, Terry, for being unafraid to lift up your voice. This is bigger than politics as usual. When a President is handcuffing Senators, threatening the free press, and so much more—we all have to speak up for our democracy.

twitter really convinced people that the goal of social media was to get into pointless arguments with strangers

And remember, taxpayers are the ones who pay the settlements in these lawsuits, which ran over $200,000,000 for the NYPD just in the last year. I wonder if the costs came out of their own budget or retirement funds they might be a little more circumspect.

AOC: “They’re making people undocumented by removing LEGAL status, then having the audacity to call them illegal… correct?” @govpritzker.illinois.gov: “Taking their legal right to be here away.” @aoc.bsky.social: “The Republican majority is anti-LEGAL immigration, I want to make that very clear.”

What happened to Senator Padilla is not homeland security. This is homeland fascism. This is homeland authoritarianism.

Big T made it through his operation. What a lovely day he had today

Listening to the asshole @SpeakerJohnson just blame Senator Padilla makes a few things clear. 1st - He uses God and religion to justify lying. 2nd - IT IS TIME FOR A NATIONAL STRIKE. AMERICANS SHOULD CALL IN SICK AND SHOULD STOP SPENDING MONEY ON ANYTHING BUT NECESSITIES.

“Tesla’s driverless ‘robotaxis’ could launch in Austin as soon as June 22. But a demo in Austin today showed a $TSLA, manually driven to test its Full Self-Driving system, failed to stop for a child-sized dummy at a school bus—and hit it.” @cbsaustin @velez_tx
