It's new book day at my side hustle, The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota. Check out the revised and expanded edition of our 2017 classic: Picking the President: Understanding the Electoral College edited by @ericburin.bsky.social. It's free! thedigitalpress.org/2025/02/11/n...

Honored, grateful, and proud to have The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota publish Picking the President: Understanding the Electoral College. Revised and Expanded Edition. thedigitalpress.org/2025/02/11/n...

Wouldn't be surprised to see Reid and Kelce hang it up after this game.

Researching something else, but ran across a statement in the Congressional Record from January 11, 1967, and Donald Rumsfeld stood up to celebrate Ukrainian Indepedendence Day and called for "freedom for all oppressed people and the liberation of the Ukrainian Nation from Soviet domination."

I spent much of my youth hearing that everything from credit cards to Kroger cards to digital banking was the Mark of the Beast. Now a guy wants to replace the regular old currency with crypto and seems to get a "meh" at worst. He's actually cheered by many of the same folks. Makes perfect sense.

So my team, the artists formerly known as the Washington Football Team, just won its first playoff game since 2005. There goes pulling for the Lions next week. I'll pull for whoever wins that game to win the #SuperBowl. But they probably won't.

Christmas break is not quite finished, but I've pretty much finished two draft chapters on my next book, an intended biography on #JenningsRandolph of WV. I'm sure that there will be extensive revisions, but I'm closing in on two-thirds of my anticipated manuscript length complete.

As a grad of the University of North Dakota who was not orignially from ND, I'm still pulling for #NDSU tonight. Go #Bisons.

Wrote about 100 pages toward my next book in 2024. Hoping to have a completed draft manuscript and a publishing deal secured in 2025, not necessarily in that order.

In a world of certain people not like #JimmyCarter, be like Jimmy Carter.

Coming soon:

Just a reminder that my book on the Spanish flu is available now. It's available as a free download or a cheapish paperback that could make a nice present. It shows how the flu impacted a state with a smaller population. You can order it or download it via this link. thedigitalpress.org/pandemic/

That was the most #WVU ways of WVU ways to lose. Get down big, give people hope, and then crush it.

Turned on the #WVUFootball game tonight. I'm guessing I'll turn it off early, but I wanted to see if I might be pleasantly surprised. 3-and-out to start the game on offense. Not surprising.

Not a fan of whiteout uniforms. Watched the Cleveland Browns wear them in person yesterday. Tonight, the Vikings are wearing them. I guess it would be OK for camo if it were snowing.

The funnest week of a faculty member's semester is going on right now. Finals coming in to grade. Yee-Haw. #academiclife

Wouldn't have expected this seventeen years ago, but #RichRod is back at #WVUFootball. Hope this ends better than his last tenure and that the team gets back to relevance.

Happy for the #DallasCowboys They're a great team this year. Three games behind my #WashingtonCommanders.

So is #Belsnickel going to show up this year?

So it appears that #RichRod is a name that's in the running for head football coach at WVU. Never would have thought that about 17 years ago around this time of the year. www.wvnews.com/news/wvnews/...
