Episode out today! You will have a hard time finding a more pragmatic and informative hour on decarbonization. @mzjacobson.bsky.social , thanks again! Available for download on all major podcast platforms.

We must reclaim the tradition of community in our society. Only by recognizing that we share a common obligation to one another and to our country can we ever hope to maximize our national or personal potential. We must reassert the oneness of America. Former President Biden. Cancer sucks.

Biden is a five decade public servant who gave it everything he had. I'm very sorry to hear of this diagnosis.

Upcoming podcast schedule. Give us a listen on all major podcast platforms.

I'm pretty tired of assigned opinions. You're this, so you have to think that. BS. Get informed and not afraid to make your own views.

@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social I just finished a prep call for an upcoming episode of my podcast with Josh Kaplowitz and Eric Beightel as guests and your name and books came up quite a bit. The topic is objectively taking on the challenges of decarbonization.I'll send you a link when we post the episode

Leaders unite, not divide. Inspire, not put down. Objectively take on critical problems, not look to assign blame and punt the problem to the next guy. Most of all, leaders treat people with respect. We've largely lost this in our politics. Until we regain it, many will be left behind.

I'm helping a local university put on a climate and sustainability conference in South Jersey this fall. We want to tailor it to students as much as possible, "Building Today With Tomorrow in Mind". Does anyone have good data on related concerns of that age group (18-23)? @katharinehayhoe.com?

My family and I have been going to LBI in New Jersey for decades. Over that time the dunes have been rebuilt many times and heightened due to storm threats. There's now at least a 20' vertical climb then descent to get to the beach. Climate realities, but not sustainable.

Just had @mzjacobson.bsky.social and Doug Houseman on my podcast to discuss renewables, transmission, the blackout in Spain, and much more. Perspectives on Sustainable Development, posting on Spotify on Tuesday. #climatechange #renewables #transmission

I don't think anyone had "guy from Chicago becomes Pope" on their 2025 bingo card. It won't be long before Trump takes credit.

Idiocy.

Federal agencies and associated supporting firms have lost thousands of years of expertise over the last weeks. That's a massive loss that isn't quickly or easily remedied. We tell people to get advanced degrees and put the time in, then cast them off? Doesn't make sense.

Ben Franklin on inoculation, after his son died from smallpox. “In 1736, I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation”.

To all my friends and colleagues who found out today that they've been dismissed from the NCAS6, I'm truly sorry. Cutting climate and public health research is incredibly short sighted. #nationalclimateassessment

If you have to resort to using ALL CAPS in an argument, you've already lost. But it still may be good enough to go viral, especially if you happen to be POTUS.

Just got home from a week in Nashville with family. This #johnlewis mural struck me. As @booker.senate.gov has been telling everyone, it's time for some #goodtrouble to fight for what we believe in. We're more alike than we are different, and need to act like it.

Each year, roughly 7000 acres of forest in my home state burn. This fire is already well over that, and only 5% contained at last check. We have also had numerous smaller fires recently. My son has even started asking me why it smells like camping. Climate impacts mounting...

Climate change risks are health risks, risks to business, and the natural world. The longer we wait to take actions on resiliency and mitigation, the more it will cost, and the greater the impact on human and animal life #earthday

Marjorie Taylor Greene should be ashamed of herself. Disgraceful. @adamkinzinger.bsky.social you're 100% right.

Pope Francis was a Jesuit, a teacher, an advocate for action on climate to protect the poor and impoverished. "Human-induced climate change is a scientific reality, and its decisive mitigation is a moral and religious imperative for humanity". May he rest in peace. #popefrancis #climatechange

Hegseth has to go.

Lately cruelty seems to be in. That cannot be normalized. Putting others down will never lift you up.

“I am sympathetic to everything you’re saying, I just don’t I think I have the power to do anything,” US District Judge James Boasberg told a lawyer for the migrants at an emergency hearing Friday night. Sums up the last 90 days and maybe the next four years.

This is the time we are living in... The White House actually sent this and thought it was a good idea. No one will get fired for this, hell, they'll probably get a raise. Disgusting. Disgraceful. Scared for where our country is heading.

My six year old and I are out picking dandelions this afternoon. Then she hits me with, "Daddy we have to leave some for the bees". Future environmental leader and very proud Dad.

The Federal Reserve has to stay independent. Period stop. We are screwed if that ever changes.

Being cruel, being an ass, being isolationist, being untrustworthy cannot now be our national foreign policy. But...

No one person can place themselves above our system of government. Washington could have named himself King years ago, he didn't for a reason. Trump is trying to now, in everything but title. Dystopian bizzaro world.

Trump has been POTUS for less than three months this time around, and has already burned countless partnerships, dismantled agencies, challenged most of our constitutional rights, and bounds of the federal government. All in roughly 80 days. The really sick thing is that many are applauding.

Trump gave #scotus the proverbial finger today then gaslit the hell out of the whole situation. SCOTUS has to respond. If not, this will be a harbinger of much more dire situations ahead. All of this and most of the general public (voters) have no idea it's happening.

Very timely

Every major project should consider economic, environmental, and social impacts of their proposal early in the process. Doing so will reduce project risks, aid permitting, and help show that the site wants to be a good neighbor.
