It's amazing how much can be tied back to the golden rule, treat others how you want to be treated. So much can be extrapolated from that one simple premise if you're willing to try.

The F250 Insurrectionalist Model. I wonder what his opinion is of the Oval Office meeting yesterday.

That oval office meeting was disgraceful. Zellensky was the only real leader in the room. We should be ashamed of ourselves. As the British PM said yesterday, any path forward cannot reward the aggressor.

Watching the DC RIF explode in front of my eyes over the last month has been hard. There's a visceral frustration and wanting to help those affected, almost how I felt after Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey. The ripple effects from these draconian cuts will be felt for years.

Of the 4000 researchers at NIH, only 20% are tenured. They’re going to fire all the rest as their contracts come up for renewal, absolutely decimating research at the NIH. This is catastrophic, not just for Americans, but for the whole world. www.science.org/content/arti...

Trump just announced that the EPA plans to cut up to 65% of its workforce. Many of these people are my friends and colleagues, all dedicated and talented professionals who don't deserve this. This will also set back public health in this country. Very sad news.

The two party political system in the US is broken beyond repair. We now get incrementalism at best, and endless blame, vitriol, and digging in. There has to still be some areas for compromise, some issues where adults in the room stand up and lead. Objective leadership wanted...

Trump and Musk's actions are ensuring that this #scotus term will be historic one way or the other. I can't remember another time where the Executive Branch tested the bounds of their powers so much, and overtly grabbed power from other branches. #separationofpowers

I'm thinking about Pope Francis a lot tonight and hope he pulls through. A man of science, of education, of the people, of faith, who has written eloquently on the dangers of climate change around the world affecting the poor and indigent most. #climatejustice

Welcome to the Bluesky account for Stand Up for Science 2025! Keep an eye on this space for updates, event information, and ways to get involved. We can't wait to see everyone #standupforscience2025 on March 7th, both in DC and locations nationwide! #scienceforall #sciencenotsilence

This is getting so bad. We're honestly about six degrees of separation from Animal Farm at this point.

The obsession over egg prices goes past sticker shock. It's a great metaphor for large chunks of this country wanting to go back to "how things were", pre DEI, pre EJ, pre climate change, and pre global digitization. It's not happening. The world has changed.

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

The more I read the recently laid off posts on LinkedIn, the more I want to drive down to DC and buy them all a beer. Only problem with that, that'd cost almost $1 million because a crap ton of people have been caught up in this. Tragic. Needless. Stupid.

The detrimental effects from all these federal cuts will be staggering, come in over time, and still somehow likely be blamed on President Biden. R&D, helping the less fortunate, fighting diseases, and employment opportunity should all be universal causes we can get behind. Apparently not.

Trump is surrendering America. Trump is the opposite of strong. He is a tiny, weak, small, scared, trembling, sissy, husk of a man. There is nothing manly about his fat, sweaty, smelly, gross, makeup'ed self An absolute joke

The only reason you're not reading stories of 200,000+ federal employees laid off is they're doing it 1000-2000 at a time to make it more palatable. Simple math, 10-15% reduction across the board is a lot of people. They didn't deserve this.

Season 2 Episode 1 of Perspectives on Sustainable Development is now live. This was a great climate discussion with @sheilarose.bsky.social and @brianpbarnes.bsky.social . Available on all major podcast platforms. I'm dedicating this episode to all the federal employees who were recently let go.

Driven #vc money right now could build one hell of a foundation with the sea of talent that was recently let go by the federal government. Plenty of ways to build profitable models in climate, decarbonization and EJ work.

To anyone who was recently let go due to the changes in DC, and may need to hear it, this wasn't your fault.

I'll likely buy an EV for my next vehicle, but it won't be a Tesla. I can't support someone who finds glee in breaking the law to layoff thousands of dedicated federal workers.

You don't try and lose weight by cutting off your leg. It kind of feels like DOGE is doing that.

I don't agree with almost anything the federal government has done over the last month but maybe worst of all is the "this is your fault" pink slips that so many are receiving. This is a policy choice, not poor performance by the workers. It shouldn't be cast as such.

Have to wonder if VP Vance has Musk envy right now. Trump just said Vance likely isn't his successor, and Musk is wielding incredible (albeit unlawful) power. Interesting dynamics at play.

Just finished recording Season 2 Episode 1 of my podcast Perspectives on Sustainable Development with guests @sheilarose.bsky.social and @brianpbarnes.bsky.social on #climate impacts and social tipping points. The episode posts on 2/17. Great discussion. Follow us on all podcast platforms.

RFK Jr is about to be confirmed to lead HHS. He's already having a detrimental effect on health in this country because this news made me throw up a little.

I'm on a large webinar today and had to laugh when every speaker positioned themselves in front of stacks of books. It's become the standard smart guy backdrop. Just because you own them doesn't mean you've read them.

I don't agree with almost anything Trump does but Democrats have to stop with the "Republicans are stupid" trope.

Do you trust President Trump to act with the best interests of all Americans in mind? Simple question, and it should be a simple answer. The job isn't the leader of only those who voted for him. We are witnessing a historic EO power grab that must be put on its place by the other two branches.
