While I fully expected Trump to abandon Ukraine, I thought it would be more a case of “sorry, but I’m putting America first, we can’t help anymore”, not this “Zelensky is a dictator and Ukraine started the war” pro-Russian narrative.

Kids went back to school yesterday and mine came home with an order to buy a set of ‘classic’ Red propaganda stories about CHILDREN resisting the Japanese, killing landlords and volunteering to spread CCP propaganda. Education in Xi Jinping’s China.

I really don’t get why the Chinese car industry pivoted to massive cars when so many people live in small compounds with narrow lanes and too few parking bays. Double the parking is common. I struggle to park my small sedan at times. Why did not 🇨🇳 not do like 🇯🇵 and adapt car sizes to the space?

The irony of state propagandists falling for an AI-generated fake warning about the dangers of Chinese AI, posted on Chinese app Xiaohongshu. Two top ‘journalists’ in action. 🤦‍♂️

Is there a more pointless sporting event than the Asian Winter Games? Before the start of the current one (being held in Harbin), just four countries had won 1,126 of the 1,163 medals awarded. The other 23* had 37 between them. What a waste of time. *Taiwan has now won one bronze.

‘The Paper’, Chinese-language parent of Sixth Tone, is downsizing. Naturally, there’s no suggestion it’s related to its relatively more liberal editorial stance, but one has to wonder when it’s remembered how 6T was brought to heel and turned into yet another ‘positive energy’ publication.

Asked to give an example of US firepower used to harm China or the Chinese people, besides the Belgrade embassy incident, someone has actually cited air strikes that killed Uyghurs training with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Barrel scraping at its best! 🤦‍♂️

Andy, mid-40s, has done the very mature thing of trolling a thread of nice things about Japan, all because it annoys him when people give Japan credit for nice things about China.

I love seeing the realization wash over a nationalist’s face as it dawns on them for the first time that the Taiwan question isn’t a top priority for most Chinese people. You can see the cogs turning. They’re genuinely taken aback that others don’t think about it every day like they do.

I wish all the Russian import stores that have appeared everywhere in Shanghai recently would fuck off. China is bending over backwards to help Putin’s rogue state stay afloat.

Far too little western media coverage about #DeepSeek is mentioning the C-word. Censorship should be the first thing people ask about an AI tool from China. I get why the tech intrigues people, but nobody should be excited about a world where the CCP heads up the infosphere. 🤦‍♂️

Unannounced, perhaps, but hardly a “surprise”, is it?

Musk’s arm gesture is proving to be a helpful shibboleth. You just see if someone accepts it was a fascist salute and if they don’t, you stop paying that person attention. It really saves a lot of time and effort.
