Check this last paper from the Malissen's lab👇. A gain-of-function CARMIL2 variant can substitute for CD28 costimulation, enabling T cells to bypass PD-1 and CTLA-4 checkpoints. This discovery revisits the architecture of the CD28 costimulatory pathway and opens avenues for next-gen immunotherapies.

🦠 Check the last study from the team of Philippe Pierre in PNAS @pnas.org. The authors show how a bacterial toxin can hijack our cells’ stress response to trigger immune signals linked to inflammation and infection. Congratulations to all authors!

Last week we had the great honor to welcome Dr. Eliane Piaggio from Institut Curie in our 2025 CIML seminar series. Eliane gave an interesting seminar on "Single-Cell Treg Profiling: New Cancer Therapies and Insights into Tumor-Treg Biology" and had great exchanges with CIML scientists.

🧠🦠 Check this Review written by the team of Sophie Ugolini @ugolinis.bsky.social on how sensory neurons modulate immune responses. Just out in Immunity @cp-immunity.bsky.social.

🧠🛡️ CIML celebrates the International Day of Immunology 2025: When Brain Meets Immunity. This year, we spotlight two Inserm researchers whose research is transforming our understanding of how the nervous and immune systems interact, paving the way for new therapies for neurological diseases.

🎉 We're thrilled to share that Dr. Anaïs Rogier, trained at CIML in Sophie Ugolini’s team, has received the Aix-Marseille University Thesis Award for her outstanding work on neuro-immune regulation during viral infections. Bravo Anaïs! 🧠🦠

In a study led by Jean-Pierre Gorvel and Sylvie Mémet, CIML researchers found that SLAMF receptors shape human plasmacytoid dendritic cell responses to intracellular bacteria. Congrats to 1st author Joaquin Pellegrini and collaborators. www.jci.org/articles/vie... @jclinical-invest.bsky.social

We are proud to announce that Prof. Eric Vivier @ericvivier.bsky.social, team leader at CIML and former director (2008–2017), has been awarded the prestigious Léopold Griffuel Prize for "Translational and Clinical Research" by the ARC Foundation for Cancer Research. @univ-amu.fr @inserm.fr @cnrs.fr

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Iñaki Martin Subero from Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona in Spain as part of the 2025 CIML seminar series. Iñaki gave an incredible seminar: “An epigenetic journey to the origin, pathogenesis and evolution of chronic lymphocytic leukemia”.

Yesterday we organized the CIML Scientific Day dedicated to "Immunology Meets Oncology" The day featured outstanding presentations on the intersection between immunology and cancer research from Bruno Quesnel, Pierre Milpied, Nathalie Auphan-Anezin, Eric Vivier, Carole Siret, and Rafael Argüello.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Jakub Abramson from the Weizmann Institute of Science, as part of the 2025 CIML seminar series. Jakub gave a great seminar: “From Thymic Mysteries to Sex hormones - HECking the sexual dimorphism of the immune response” Thanks Jakub for your visit!

Check this last study led by Nathalie Pujol on skin damage in C. elegans 🪱 just published in PLOS Genetics 👇

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Filipe Pereira from Lund University in Sweden, as part of the 2025 CIML seminar series. Filipe gave an incredible seminar on "In Vivo Dendritic Cell Reprogramming for Cancer Immunotherapy". Thanks Filipe for your visit!

We are proud to announce that the AIR-MT project has been selected for funding by Inserm ImpactSanté program (€3M), with CIML researcher Béatrice Nal as a key partner. The project will use artificial intelligence to design optimized RNAs for more effective vaccines and therapies. #France2030.

We are proud to announce that the ANTIBAX project has been selected for funding by Inserm (€2.3M), with CIML team leader Pierre Milpied as main partner. Pierre’s team will identify antibodies in tumors that target cancer-causing bacteria, paving the way for new treatments against mucosal cancers.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Nelson Gekara from the Institute of Microbiology and Hygiene in Freiburg, as part of the 2025 CIML seminar series. Nelson gave a fantastic talk on "The cross-talks between the innate immune and DNA repair system". Thanks Nelson for your visit!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Steeve Boulant from the University of Florida, as part of the 2025 CIML seminar series. Steeve gave a great talk on "Type III Interferons: from regulation of antiviral response to promoting barrier function". Thanks @boulantlab.bsky.social for your visit!

The CIML supports the movement #StandUpForScience2025 and expresses its solidarity with scientists working in the United States, where academic freedom is currently being challenged. Gather at 12:00 pm at the Natural History Museum, Palais Longchamp, Marseille. @cnrs.fr @inserm.fr @univ-amu.fr

Today, we had the honor of welcoming Dr. Kim Good Jacobson from Monash University, Melbourne, to kick off the 2025 CIML seminar series. Kim gave a brilliant talk on "Molecular Regulation of Antibody and Immune Memory Responses to Viral Infections". Thanks @kimljacobson.bsky.social for your visit!
