You know, what if FF7 also takes inspiration from Sailor Moon? Especially Sailor Moon R: The Movie. It came out in 1993. Comet, crystal, friends helping Usagi (Aerith) stop the comet, Fiore (he gives me (Genisis vibes)... You know. I'll live in my illusion, thank you very much.

I think the 5 warriors mentioned in EC are a good indication of what will happen in part 3. Angeal, Sephiroth, Cloud, Zack, & either Aerith or Genesis against Jenova. I don't think it's as much as a Sephiroth redemption, but maybe it'll finally allow him to be at peace and remain in the Lifestream.
