Excellent read: churchleaders.com/outreach-mis...

This morning read Luke 12. Hard to miss the main takeaways: (1) don't worry, and (2) be ready (for Jesus' return).

"If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom." James 3:13

This is from my morning Bible reading: "There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be." Isaiah 43:10

Pray for Zelenskyy.

What character traits are most important? I'm thinking humility and integrity.

Yeah, things have changed. breakpoint.org/apologetics-... So much evidence for Christianity.

When it seems there's only bad news... find a quiet place & rest your soul. Create your own worship moment.

Good news! Bible sales were up 22% in the U.S. last yr, while sales of other books were essentially flat. In fact, in 2019, 9.7 million copies of the Bible were sold in America. Last year, that number approached 14 million, with most sales driven by first-time buyers breakpoint.org/is-god-havin...

"The answer's YES, now what's the question?" Says every Christian to the Lord Jesus.

from Tim Keller: “God's salvation does not come in response to a changed life. A changed life comes in response to salvation.”

from Tim Keller: “God's salvation does not come in response to a changed life. A changed life comes in response to salvation.”

source unknown: “There is a believing side of the gospel, and there is a behaving side of the gospel. James is about the behaving side.”

If a person follows Jesus & therefore is living in the New Testament era, there is NO difference between Jew & Gentile. The NT says it over &over. UNLESS a person is actually living in the OT, which is pretty much living in the shadows. Living life in the NT is life in full color!

A pet peeve of mine: I just want my Bible reading time to be… Bible reading. The commentary stuff is not God’s inspired word. It’s not “alive and active.” My brain cannot separate the two if I read them together.

This morning's Bible reading was Mark 6. "So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God." The same message Jesus had. Same as John the Baptist. It's our message still today.

David Platt: As followers of Jesus, there are 2commandments that drive us. We want to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, &strength, &we want to love our neighbors as ourselves. There is no activity that doesn’t require a complete &utter dependence on God to do that which we cannot do ourselves

We R to pray for leaders. "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity." 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Watched a Dateline crime show. How "off" can a person be? Man and woman, praying for God to bless... their sin. Really? Oh, what sin? Adultery and murder.

This morning's Bible reading: Matthew 25. Three stories to make the point: Be ready for Jesus' return. It could really be today.

I've always loved trees, so this verse makes my heart sing: "Even the trees of the forest—the cypress trees and the cedars of Lebanon—sing out this joyous song" -- Is.14:8

“The more enlightened we are the more greatness and vileness we discover in man.” Blaise Pascal

"One little-reported outcome: Pochtar knows Hamas members who have come to faith in Christ. He is praying for gospel intervention in the weeks ahead: “Anyone who comes to Jesus gains the power to forgive and the desire to bring the gospel to your enemies.” www.christianitytoday.com/2025/01/isra...

We Americans are so used to luxury. Could have been me. I didn't choose to be born here. Maybe need to read this story: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." Phil. 2:3 First time I've ever chosen a verse for the year. This one seems right.

"For after all this punishment, the people will still not repent." Is. 9:13

What does Jesus think about generosity? www.epm.org/resources/20...

this is troubling. breakpoint.org/west-virgini...

When your morning Bible reading makes you wonder: "The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said, 'Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do,'" - Is. 8:11-12 No place for echo chambers here.

Does anyone wonder why in times of crises (war, fire, drought, etc.) we don't hear leaders calling the people to prayer? Confession & repentance -- wouldn't that be the natural thing to do, especially for Christians?
