In 5 years, Kenny Pickett will be a TV analyst and the graphic next to his face will say "Super Bowl Champion" and after several moments of contemplation, most of us will say "Oh yeah, he DID play for the Eagles."

It me

He also talked about how, when he’s done at the institution he is working at starting soon he wants to work abroad. And my first thought was “well how does [wife] feel about it?” He was just like “idk lol” like??? No???

Still in education administration, just further away from his family. Closer to his wife’s family though, which is good because apparently she can’t get a job where they are moving. And as he’s telling me this, I thought about how selfish he is. I’d be pissed if M packed us up and moved us somewhere

He seemed sad and not as full of life as he used to. It might have been the job, because we spent the entire conference catching up and all he did was complain about his job and how it’s not what he signed up for when he accepted. This year, he seemed a little happier; he had accepted a new job.

So I really only get to see/talk to him once a year now. Last year, he moved a couple thousand miles away from home with his wife for a job and change of scenery. They were homeless for a while, which I know was tough on both of them. He didn’t seem like the same person I knew last year.

Last year was really rough for both of us. He was having a lot of trouble in his marriage and I got a divorce. We confided in each other a lot during that time because he’s from Utah and couldn’t talk about divorce with any of his other friends. His wife made him cut me off (semi-understandable).

I have a really close friend I met through one of my professional organizations and I have some thoughts. When I first met him, he was so passionate about work and life. We used to have so much fun drinking and talking and laughing when we would go out at conferences (the only time I see him).

Me pretending to pay attention during Zoom meetings:

People: What productivity software do you use? Me:

Presented at a conference yesterday and these two guys (one was a friend of a friend) walked into my session, looked me in my eyes, and walked out. While my field is becoming more female-dominated, the subject I was talking about is still mostly taught by men. Not surprised, disappointed.

Someone tell me why everyone and their grandma is at the Kroger by campus right now when I’m in a hurry 😭

I’m supposed to go buy supplies for the workshop I’m teaching tomorrow but nobody with a purchase card is in the office 🙃 I guess this is what I get for waiting until the last minute LOL.

Hey everyone! I’m new here (stumbled over from the former bird app) and excited to be able to post again. I’m an early 30s PhD student, originally from OK, and will probably post a lot about my grad school journey, my family, and my boyfriend (M). Happy to be here!
