I feel like if there were more options within that survey that included expressions of romance/sex not typically depicted in western mainstream media, the findings would be different. Because I'm willing to bet the choices were limited. In other words, I think the survey was biased from the start.

Was just reminded of this: I need to explain a piece of jargon that I think I’ll end up using for a bit - “bittergourding” is when you’re so in the weeds, so immersed in something, that your taste turns to something that surprises and challenges you rather than what’s generally considered “good".
