I think it is important that you make sure everything you publish on the web is equally accessible to all. Thus, my content is unusable no matter your abilities. In fact, you might be better off with a screen reader because then at least you don't have to look at it. Shit's fucked.

Releasing Theemo v1.0 the end-to-end design token workflow tool: ✨ Generates Modern CSS: @property, light-dark() and color functions ✨ Integrations with @vite.dev, @emberjs.com, @svelte.dev and @vuejs.org ➡️ theemo.io Release posts (!) in the thread.

The last two "big" announcements from Silicon Valley: 1) Figma sites: inaccessible mess 2) Apple Liquid Glass: inaccessible mess I can't actually remember the last time Silicon Valley came up with something that was actually good.

So, so true. The gap between design tools and the possibilities of the CSS based web platform is getting bigger year by year. @ishadeed.com at #cssday. (Reminds me of @matthiasott.com‘s talk last year cssday.nl/2024/#matthias)

Dropping a new web component today: Unencumbered <line-numbers> will add line numbers alongside a `<pre>` or `<textarea>` (and updates when input value changes) README: github.com/zachleat/lin... Demo: zachleat.github.io/line-numbers...

It's 2025, stop putting http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" in your <head>

The internet was a mistake. Our modems used to scream to warn us.

Oh hello there #Storybook 9!

"Just fucking use HTML" justfuckingusehtml.com

🥳 We added new attributes to HTML to enhance <input type=color>: webkit.org/blog/16900/p...

We're time traveling back to 1997 today, when WISYWIG editors were all the rage. In the decades since, web technology has clawed its way from that primitive state with semantic HTML that made accessibility possible and let content drive appearance rather than vice-versa. Then Figma blew it all up.

Accessible notifications using `aria-live` or `role=status`, etc., aren't a straightforward task. Updating the DOM is hard to get right and anything but convenient. That's why the Edge team proposes and trials a new DOM method — ariaNotify(). 😱 I like it! blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/20...

The trick isn't to create a design tool that generates websites, but to make development tools designers can actually use

Oh well, at least we got grid layouts in Figma. UI designers can finally move on from 12 column grids and flexbox layouts.

Roughly 17,000 councillors in the UK. Nearly 6500 Labour. Just over 5000 Tory. 3000 Lib Dem. Reform have 799 and suddenly N.F. is being touted by the media as the next Prime Minister? The Green Party have 850 councillors. Why aren't the Green Party being bigged-up by the press? Seriously, why?

Proof this guy is full of SITH.

AI art really is the aesthetic of new fascism

We are at the point in history where Germany is having to lecture the US on the need to fight fascism.

I'm done building components. 🙅 blog.damato.design/posts/done-w...

AGI is coming for all of us. It will write symphonies, direct movies, and author the best novels. The only thing it won’t be able to do is VC investing, which must be reserved as a task only for the most-special people

Even linkedin is starting to get it

Since I've seen this again... If you're going to make links bold on `:hover`, then for the love of Satan, please use a font where the *width* doesn't change when changing the *weight*, so you don't have the rest of the stuff on that same line dancing out when you hover the link. #CSS #fonts

The ‘Piracy. It’s a Crime’ campaign used pirated music, *and* as it turns out, also used pirated fonts. Incredible.

Yipee! My site is now part of @arielsalminen.com's excellent #DesignSystem webring: design-system.club Really happy to see old-skool stuff like webrings making a come back. Sod all this walled-garden (and often toxic) social media malarky. Let's build more communities out on the open web!

Couldn’t find a design systems webring, so I created one. Feel free to join if you’re into design systems and want to add some 90s vibes on your website: design-system.club *content and styling work-in-progress, PRs welcome*

After the community feedback Servo TSC would like to share that we have decided to not modify the AI policy and keep it as is. Future discussions on this topic (if any) will happen on public channels. More details: github.com/servo/servo/...

Really excited that the Design Tokens Community Group has published a new version of the Color module, giving the format a robust way to express colors in many color spaces with high precision. Congrats to everyone who contributed! tr.designtokens.org/color/

forcing employees to figure out how to use AI is definitely a move people make when they are confident, and not at all panicking about not having a path to profitability right before the bill is due
