Correct about the ongoing existential crisis of American democracy on every point, from one of the world's great scholars of democracy: (via: www.theunpopulist.net/p/trumps-ame...)

New this am from @andrewperez.bsky.social @timdickinson.bsky.social and me for @rollingstone.com It’s….. yea. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Why isn't Zelensky on here?

“After we’ve discriminated against, deported, or disparaged all the immigrants, the gay and lesbian and transgender people, the developmentally disabled, the women, and minorities. Once we’ve ostracized our neighbors and betrayed our friends… what comes next?” - Gov. JB Pritzker

Writing books is for retirement. When you're the Minority Leader you better be governing every damn day.

the richest man in the world is currently using his control of twitter to hide the desperate pleas of the mother of his son

Why don't @kenmartin.bsky.social and @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social have guys like this making the rounds on late night/podcasts/morning shows/weekend media? Put a face to the effects of the chaos and cruelty.

The Constitution gives Congress power to establish the U.S. Postal Service. It did, by law, during the Washington administration. Its status as an independent agency was established by Congress in law. USPS is wildly popular with the American people and its service is essential and irreplaceable.

Genuinely frightening to see a conspiratorial extremist who urgently desires vengeance against the regime's enemies and whose only loyalty is to Trump elevated to such a position of power. I don't see how anyone can confidently declare America is not accelerating towards outright authoritarianism.

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.

Elon is out of his mind.

WSJ says Twitter is telling advertisers to spend more with them “or else” — “They are afraid of the legal/political ramifications of not doing so.” Do y’all get it yet? www.wsj.com/business/med...

Opinion | The last 80 years have brought unprecedented peace and prosperity to the US, Canada, and Western Europe. It's time that we ended it.

One danger of embracing generative AI as a learning device and in language assistance is that you're letting the keepers of that AI have power over what you learn and how you write. It will be programmed with biases, unintentional but often *quite* intentional, that you will unknowingly adopt.

Lots of truth in this article by Robbin Warner, such as: "Last weekend, when thousands of Americans took to the streets on President’s Day, [new DNC Chair] Ken Martin was not seen joining in. Martin released a five-page memo with...no plan of action" bluevirginia.us/2025/02/thur...

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

The facts: —New York City has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the country, #6 in lowest total crime rate among 100 largest cities —Crime rates are falling dramatically in NYC www.nyc.gov/site/nypd/ne... —Subway is safe & becoming safer nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/01/06/a...

"The level of access DOGE possesses means that the organization may already be able to siphon data that Musk or his agents could hold on to forever, long after his time as a government liaison, or even after a potential falling-out with the president."

I know no one sees it this way but me but I literally cannot get over how close we are on this. You get one Senator throwing a wrench in the gears and this house of cards is gonna collapse very fast.

1. AUDIO On Monday in Fairbanks, Congressman Nick Begich (R-AK) told a constituent laid off from a job with the federal gov't that there was nothing he could do to stop budget cuts imposed by DOGE and Elon Musk Begich said he was "not in a position to approve or deny the cuts"

Another way to put this: Musk and his twerps have exposed us to pandemics, broken science, stolen all your data, endangered the U.S. payments system, threatened air traffic control, and cut off HIV medication to 20m people in order to save ::checks notes:: 2/10th of a percent of the federal budget.

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service will lay off about 6,700 employees on Thursday, in a restructuring that could strain the tax-collecting agency's resources during the critical tax-filing season, a person familiar with the matter said.

It's instructive for the future that everything that Trump goes after sees a surge in popularity. There's a huge course correction coming, and it's best to get on board now and claim first mover advantages than to wait for everyone else to move so you can.

MTA to Feds: Drop dead

The fact that Democrats aren't putting people like this in front of cameras on every major news station every day is an insane fault on their part

Believe people when they tell you who they are. Democratic governors need to get tight with their state's National Guard leaders, the party needs to form a shadow government and people need to get mentally prepared. We all sound like lunatic preppers, but Trump isn't joking.

This is incredibly smart by @ryanhatesthis.bsky.social, a lesson Democrats have to learn fast. There will be no a-ha moment for the electorate. You can't wait around for people to realize how bad it is if they'll invariably wind up blaming the Reverse Vampires. You just have to fight, right now.
