Cory Booker has held the Senate floor for 17 hours and 21 minutes. The record of 24 hours and 18 minutes is held by segregationist Strom Thurmond, who spent that time protesting the Civil Rights Act of 1957. I am pretty sure Booker would not mind changing that history.

My mom used the words "fucking lunatic" in reference to Trump today. It's rare for her to drop an f-bomb, so you know she's not happy. She was never anything close to a supporter of his, but she's clearly progressed quickly from "it will be ok" to "it can't end fast enough".

There may not be a human alive I respect less than Elon Musk. Sure, Trump is pathetic in countless ways and deserves nothing but the worst, but I think he knows deep down how pathetic he is. Musk seems to actually believe his own hubris.

It's a weird feeling watching democracy fall in real time. The actions taken over the last couple weeks are not normal, and will directly cause millions of people to suffer. I can only hope it can be stopped and reversed before too much damage is done. I'm not certain we aren't already there.
