50 E. Adams, 9:30 AM. Outside immigration court. Maybe 15 protesters, with a handful of others around the block. Three divvy bikes, one e-scooter, no federal agents thus far

Could be worse

Seen at Cermak and Damen

Happy Friday from St. Sabina’s youth choir, which is kicking off the church’s first peace walk of the summer in Auburn Gresham alongside a solid who’s who of South Side and Illinois pols.

On phone with a source, mentioned that Tribune is about to see buyouts. Source wanted to know: "So who is going to report the news?" Told source we know very little, but he could see what is out there here via @chicago.suntimes.com chicago.suntimes.com/business/202...

Now at Ida B Wells and Michigan, for a second anti-ICE rally. Maybe 3-400 people here “Will we tell Donald Trump and Stephen Miller to leave our communities alone?”

Happening now, State and Madison: Rainbow PUSH coalition members protesting outside the goth Target. Couple dozen people marching a picket line, singing. Reported while waiting to hear how much the company intends to cut our reporting staff. Moments like this demand more journalism, not less.

About half the Tribune is currently on call for massive protests and possible immigration raids. Our owner's response? A round of buyouts. It's a vivid illustration of the fact that Alden Global Capital could not care less about journalism, news or the city of Chicago. They just want money.

Prayer vigil for Officer Krystal Rivera, fatally shot mistakenly by another officer during foot chase @ckubzansky.bsky.social story: www.chicagotribune.com/2025/06/07/o...

6th (Gresham) District police station is drowning in flowers ahead of a prayer service for Ofc. Krystal Rivera. Bouquets up and down the service counter, in the offices, every available surface

17 people arrested last night, all told. Four were charged with felonies, one was cited and 10 were charged with misdemeanors per CPD. Charges are still pending against two people.

Tonight's story here — hours of marching, a couple tense confrontations with police, not clear how many arrests yet. Photos by @mandophotos.bsky.social and @jkimpictures.bsky.social www.chicagotribune.com/2025/06/10/c...
