One of my lovely Y11s gave me this painting she did following our trip to Tyne Cot, I’m so touched! Teaching really can be the best at times!

Back at one of my most favourite places. I love half terms 💕

Menin Gate last night.

Vimy Ridge Canadian Memorial

Battlefields bound

Gutted we can’t attend this year as last year was absolutely brilliant, but my team and I will be in Belgium with 40 Y11 students visiting the First World War battlefields. Looking forward to hearing all about it though!

Now on day 6 of navigating pavements and roads like this. I am so over it,

Just finished last episode of The Mirror and the Light and of course it was utterly brilliant. 🐝😭

#OtD 15 Dec 1897 Scottish mill worker and socialist Mary Brooksbank born. She fought for better health and social services, organised women railway workers & was imprisoned three times in her life for her activities stories.workingclasshistory.c...

Following our recent inspection my school has been graded Good in all areas. For the first time in its 30 year history. I can’t tell you what an achievement it is and how much it is deserved. And as history was deep dived I like to think I played my part. Tonight I will be having a wine. 🥂

It was so lovely, and a privilege actually to have the wonderful Sal Burnham visit by department today! 💕

Having Ofsted the first day back has meant this term has been like 67 weeks and it’s still not over, not even close 😳

I adore DID but this episode is particularly brilliant, esp for teachers of US civil rights. Does anyone else have any DID recommendations? Would love to hear them! @bbcradio4.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

I love using @marcmorris.bsky.social articles with students. His article on King John (Was he really that bad? Yes!) will be part of our Y7 lessons on Magna Carta next week. Well worth signing up to history extra

Talk about this a lot with my trainees, so important

The news that people inheriting land worth at least £1 million will have to pay tax on it has drawn significantly more outrage from politicians and the press than the news that 1 in 3 children in Britain are now living in poverty…

youtu.be/zCkXsFIlpHY This is one of my favourite pieces of music and watching this may have just brought a tear or two to my eye

Snowy Sheffield ❄️

One of the beautiful creations I consulted on in #WolfHall is this gorgeous reproduction of the Book of Hours in which #AnneBoleyn & Henry VIII wrote messages to each other, recreated by the gifted Chris Rosser. It is a small detail, but one which makes my geeky heart sing 💜

@drlindseyfitz.bsky.social is a must follow for any history teachers of medicine! Plus The Facemaker is amazing for teaching illness and injuries on the Western Front if you do Edexcel GCSE

I rewatched the first series in half term and had forgotten how absolutely brilliant it is so I’m very, very excited for this 🏵️

1/ 🧵 Schools in communities facing significant socio-economic challenges often struggle to achieve excellent outcomes. Despite the best efforts of educators, unique and complex barriers make it difficult to replicate the successes seen in more affluent areas.
