From Gwyneth Paltrow’s candle “This Smells Like My Vagina” to testicle tanning, endorsed by Tucker Carlson and others, to ‘research experts’ who are dogs or long dead (I’m not making this up) Timothy Caulfield covers it in his book. Here’s my review. Thanks for reading. medium.com/cd-critical-...

"German measles" to be renamed "Texas measles."

Bob Ezrin moved back to Canada, citing the political situation in the U.S. and threat to his native country. Good on him! I always admired Ezrin and even had him as a character in a fictional short story I wrote called “Julie Andrews vs. Alice Cooper." www.thecanadianpressnews.ca/performing-a...

When I first started receiving these emails, I thought Tudum was a new film or series. Reminds me of the joke about the couple who went to the drive-in theatre and froze in their car. They were waiting to see the movie Closed for Season.

Word of the Day is ‘ingordigiousness’ (18th century): extreme greed at the expense of principles.

This book is so insightful...and so damn funny. e.g. “…homeopathy is truly the air guitar of biomedicine.” e.g. An editorial board editor named Dr. Olivia Doll is actually a Staffordshire terrier who reviews manuscripts for several journals. “Good doggie!” Read it peeps. @caulfieldtim.bsky.social

My, how far the mighty Washington Post has fallen. Katharine Graham is turning in her grave. 3rd of 3

Jeff Bezos, current publisher of the Washington Post: "We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too of course, but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others." 2nd of 3

Katharine Graham, former publisher of the Washington Post: "The power is to set the agenda. What we print and what we don't print matter a lot.” 1st of 3

Question for Musk, Trump and all the other anti- ‘woke’ crusaders out there: If you’re not woke what does that make you? Asleep?😴

Go Chantal! Go Canada!

Ok that made me laugh

Sixty years ago tomorrow, our Prime Minister Lester Pearson said: “Under this flag may our youth find new inspiration for loyalty to Canada; for a patriotism based not on any mean or narrow nationalism, but on the deep and equal pride that all Canadians will feel for every part of this good land.” 🇨🇦

Some humpday humor for you. This obituary was written by a bot. Maybe there's still hope for writers after all.

All my life I’ve been dying to write a headline like this.

Time to post this on my time line.

Here’s a thought for Canadian sports fans protesting Trump’s tariff threats: Instead of booing, sit down and stay quiet during the U.S. anthem. To paraphrase Joe Cocker, you can leave your toque on.🇨🇦

“Chaos and cruelty” as the point of a Trump administration. It’s a phrase I think Bob Cesca coined in a Salon interview and one that Donna Halper quotes in an interesting interview on his show. www.salon.com/2020/06/02/d...

Looking forward to opening this book that I purchased from Biblioasis Bookshop. It tells the story of the rise of an American president who becomes a dictator to save the nation from "welfare cheats, crime, and a liberal press.” Yeah, it’s fiction. It can’t possibly happen here today.

On CBC Sunday Magazine last week, Little Monsters author David A. Robertson gave this great analogy to explain why he wrote about chronic, often-debilitating anxiety and depression.

Here’s an essay I wrote on why I left Twitter, Elon Musk (the "demented billionaire demagogue worshiper”) and why good people fall for bad people. medium.com/cd-flotsam-j...

Carl Jung, in his autobiography Memories, Dreams, Reflections, wrote about how the “darkness of the future” can rob us of the “light of the present day.” After more than 60 years, his words still hold true.
