🚨 In 2024, Canada handed nearly $30B in subsidies to fossil fuel companies, fueling pipelines & an aging industry at the expense of health, the environment, & our future. 🌍 It's time for sustainable energy solutions. 🌱 Read the full analysis 👉 bit.ly/3RxJUhe

Crisis of democracy: "Strategic voting is the Liberals’ silver bullet. It compresses the entire election [...] into a single question: do you want the Conservatives to win? [...] it’s a clever flattening of democratic participation that erases everything that matters."

The Conservatives want Canada to become a dictatorship. This is project 2025 Canadian edition. Poilievre’s conservatives are fascists. We cannot allow them in power. Canada will be destroyed. cpcassets.conservative.ca/wp-content/u...

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge. As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do. They can't keep spewing carbon. They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying. They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

What I'm finding most frustrating about this #CanadianElection is that @jagmeetsingh.ca is bringing down great candidates who would be crucial to have in parliament. The @ndp.ca candidates that make it through are the ones with ground game strong enough to weather Singh's watered-down nonsense.

I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom. If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters?

when Singh became NDP leader the party had 44, 45 seats

Carney believes in markets, and markets do not care about us having a just and sustainable future on this planet.

Wow that 2-year supply and confidence agreement really helped the NDP in the polls! What a great strategy by @jagmeetsingh.ca and his team of neoliberals! #cdnpoli

Must read: Mahmoud Khalil speaks out for the first time since his arrest by the Trump administration in an exclusive letter, dictated over the phone to his family, from ICE detention in Louisiana.

I think what politicians are offering as climate policies are tepid as fuck. We are avoiding the facts that industry operations, productions must change. And so must infrastructure but no one wants to spend that money or change their business models

Happy Intentional Women's Day. These incredible women are still fighting this fight today despite the violence and injustice they've faced protecting the land. Power to Indigenous resistance. Indigenous women are so powerful. youtu.be/rqkbCSINWjE

Folks in Montreal! We're running a Free, Expanded and Accessible Public Transit campaign, and always looking for people to help! If you're looking to dip your toes unto organizing, this is a great way to do it. 🚉🚍🚊 @climatejusticemtl.bsky.social www.climatejusticemontreal.ca/campaigns/fr...

The Holocaust was legal. We had a law prof teach a whole course on this. Ppl who conflate what is lawful with what is right are easy to manipulate and control.

Today and in the coming days, remember

Here's my new piece. It's a deep dive into why Millennials have been infantilized and why teenagerness has been extended into young adulthood: it's a tool of social control to render entire generations incapable of organizing to fight back. noraloreto.substack.com/p/inventing-...

Seems like as good a time as any to reshare the #Trudeau -inspired meme I'm most proud of making. #cdnpolitics

#JustinTrudeau straight up lying about not being able to reform our electoral system... and pretending he wishes he could have is so him, so Liberal.

Jagmeet Singh should run as leader of the Liberal Party. He operates as a liberal anyway, so might as stop posturing as a leftist. He should bring Anne McGrath and Jennifer Howard with him too. #JustinTrudeau #cdnpolitics

As part of my EOY coverage on /Film, I went long on @dropouttv.bsky.social and why in our capitalist hellscape of the streaming wars, they’re the only one actually breeding innovation. www.slashfilm.com/1739679/drop...

NEW: I take a look at Trudeau’s record of “crushing disappointment” on climate for @readthemaple.bsky.social. www.readthemaple.com/a-crushing-d...

This whole thread is fantastic

The nicest thing I can say to Catherine McKenna after reading this is it takes a lot of courage to admit how stupid you were. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

Canada Post workers go on strike. So, more people turn to Purolator, which is owned by.... Canada Post. I'm way too dumb for this world.

Ralph Ghoche and Unyimeabasi Udoh: "The question of whether we must 'save the world' in an ecological sense, has in its wake another, more insidious question: for whom? Although this second question may not be asked outright, it often gets answered."

Not sure if this is an issue outside of Montreal, but I've noticed that Telus bought most of the home and commercial security system companies. Always a bad trend when one massive corporation takes over a whole market like that, not to mention how much data they have access to.

How in the world are you going to say capitalism isn’t the problem when we’ve literally managed to cause climate change and a global mass extinction in less than 500 years of it existing? Any system that demands constant growth and consumption is unsustainable.

Hello! Read my books! christianfavreau.com this is as good at promoting my work as i get

The amount of carbon pollution that originates from fossil fuels produced in Canada is staggering. #fossilfuels #oil #GHGs www.nationalobserver.com/2024/11/12/n...

Thanks to Google and Meta's censorship of cdn news, this is where I go now and I highly recommended it. No algorithm; just a feed of cdn news: dailycanada.ca
