Women have worked for free so far this year because of the gender pay gap, according to a new report

Self care for me is a cat and a book. Bonus points if the cat lets you hold their paw.

We are sleepwalking into this.

Despite Andrew RT Davies’ calls for a Wales wide inquiry into child sexual exploitation, he did not attend the Tory grooming gangs debate on the issue today and Senedd record shows he ‘did not vote’.

A great start, but we need to go further. Non-payment of council tax cases need to slow down. There are not enough steps that a council need to go through before they are able to send the case to court.

Wild.

#HeartUnionsWeek is a great opportunity to highlight what fantastic work unions have done, and always will do. Work should be a fair and safe place for all. Unions are a driving force for continuing the fight to ensure that every worker can access this right.

BREAKING 🚨: Miscarriages could result in parental bereavement leave following a GMB campaign Proposed amendments to the Government's Employment Rights bill sets out paid leave entitlements 🙌

@weareplatfform.bsky.social we are standing in solidarity with WRC

The best part of fostering is that when they’re kittens I get to name them! Really struggling with this one. I quite like “Strawberry” but it’s a bit of a mouthful for a name. Any cute/funny suggestions?

It angers me so much that ending sexual violence only ever comes to the forefront as a political football to throw around. This is a serious issue that many of us cannot choose to pick up and put down when we want.

Big Happy Birthday to my Mum today who I miss so dearly 💖 Luckily she hated Christmas so I’m not missing out on any family traditions 😂

A monumental day. Gisèle Pelicot waived her right to anonymity so that women who have been raped can know that “it’s not for us to have shame - it’s for them”. Today I am thinking of Gisèle and every woman who has felt this shame, whether they spoke out or not.

I see @netflix.com have learnt nothing from Blake's mistakes. This is a film about domestic abuse and sexual violence. Viewers should be warned so that they can make informed choices about what they watch.

Thrilled to see an increase of £1.2m in the Welsh Government budget for the delivery of the violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence strategy. Hopefully this will plug some of the gap left by the 4.2% cut to victim support services.

Hugely disappointing to see the granting of 5yr commercial whaling licenses in Iceland from the outgoing government. We must continue to protect these extraordinary animals and bring an end to the unnecessarily cruel practice of commercial whaling globally.” Photo credit ORCA

I have written to Mark Drakeford and I will be meeting with officials in the near future to discuss this matter. If anyone knows of any organisations in relation to debt related poverty that would be interested please let me know or tag away.

🔴 A RED warning for wind has been issued for Port Talbot. Extremely strong winds associated with Storm Darragh are expected to cause significant disruption from 03:00am on Saturday 7th December. Stay indoors if you can, it is not safe to drive in these conditions.

A red weather warning has been issued for parts of Wales. At 6:45pm on 06/12/2024, the Emergency Alert System will send a message to all mobiles within the affected areas. The warning means that there is a potential risk to life. Please take care and follow advice to stay safe.

Andrew RT Davies resigning is the best birthday present ever, thank you!!

Well there we are then…

Social mobility in action! This is amazing news and I hope this sort of thing continues. How many cabinet members were on free school meals? That’s a statistic I’d be really interested in.

@ceritheviking.bsky.social This is incredibly random, but do you have a side hustle reading articles on Byline Times? The recorded version of an article I’ve just read sounds exactly like you!

Can we stop describing mental health support as a “carrot” vs the stick in the context of people out of work? Proper healthcare isn’t a reward, it’s a right. #QuestionTime

In yesterday's council I asked what support is offered to residents in NPT who are experiencing council tax debt. Whilst it is encouraging to see officers taking important steps when ensuring that payment plans are affordable, 4,492 residents have been billed for the year of 24/25. 1/3

Finally.

Rosie Duffield has been allocated the Conservative spot on the Women and Equalities Committee. Honestly, this says a lot.

Other countries with tourism tax has shown that this simply is not the case. However Senedd Members must ensure that survivors/victims of violence against women and girls do not have to pay - as current plans suggest. Those experiencing poverty may not be able to front costs despite reimbursement

Tonight, the Government held a reception to mark 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, putting this important issue firmly in the spotlight. Too often, women feel unsafe including when travelling on our transport networks, and we're working hard to change this.
