Calling all amateur radio operators: Today is your day! 📣 Today, April 18, marks World Amateur Radio Day! 🎉 We're celebrating the world of ham radio and the spirit of global connection. Did you know that 100 years ago on this day in 1925, the International Amateur Radio Union was formed in Paris?

It was a good weekend for the Cambridge University boat club. Strong wins for both blue boats this year. Great fun watching real rowers; so much better than my Concept2 fitness rowing! It's tiring just watching them... How they fit it around studies is wild. Such an amazing power-endurance sport.

Special IARU callsigns in use this month for the 100th anniversary of the IARU. A meeting in Paris in March 1924 agreed to investigate the formation of an international body. RSGB archives include a signed menu from that event. Listen for GB0IARU and others.

This is an awesome new innovation

Spotted in the Milton Keynes Gallery cafe earlier 😎

Delighted to learn from DX-World that SV1GA/A is valid for DXCC. 🌍

Photos again - this is XR0YG, Easter Island in March 2013. @g3zay.bsky.social as well as G4IRN, G3TXF and I operated all bands, CW only and had a blast. Quite an intriguing island to visit and the propagation is favourable to most call areas.

Doing some Club Log DBA work; paused realtime uploads for a short while

Some pics from Lore Howe Island (VK9L/G7VJR). An exceptionally photogenic place, fairly limited on luggage flying into a restricted runway though! Easy side trip from Sydney but challenging on LF without an amp.

A few snaps from another CUWS trip, this one to St. Pierre and Miquelon in September 2017 (I was FP/G7VJR - we used home calls generally). A pretty and pleasant location on Isle aux Marins, plus great conditions such as VK and ZL on 160m, which is quite a path.
