Wow. This is sooo good. Echoing @urbanevol.bsky.social this user’s manual for Ne should be required reading for popgen and conservation genetics folks. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

🚨Paper alert Steve Campana et al rewrite the history of Atlantic cod and the #Iceland ground fishery A must read! #Fish #Fisheries #OceansPast Mortality drives production dynamics of Atlantic cod through 1100 years of commercial fishing | Science Advances www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

🚨 New paper published in... Nature 😱 I never thought that I would write these words, but here is a Nature-paper that I contributed to. We found global loss in genetic diversity. But conservation strategies may maintain or increase genetic diversity. Full paper here: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

I've been working on a history of the tidyverse for an upcoming special issue of the Australia/New Zealand Journal of Statistics celebrating 25 years of R. I'd love to get your feedback! What have I missed? hadley.github.io/25-tidyverse... #rstats

An outstanding showing by the Walther Lab at the Texas Chapter of the American Fisheries Society this weekend! Kimber Montanye, Blake Munz and Jacob Oster presented all of their amazing work on flounder, tarpon, hypoxia, and beyond!

How can we find out how fishers adapt their fishing strategies to a changing context? This is a key question if we want sustainable and resilient fishing. Using an interdisciplinary method, we dived into this with the specific case of the Bay of Biscay small pelagic fishery. doi.org/10.1093/ices...

Our new paper on fish dynamics of thermal tolerance plasticity is finally out in Journal of Thermal Biology! This was an amazing collaboration with great researchers across the World! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

In a new study in @icesmarine.bsky.social journal led by Serena Donadi, we show that herring is an underestimated piscivore and that the herring decline in the Baltic Sea may have contributed to the increase in three-spined stickleback: academic.oup.com/icesjms/adva...

A new #fishR post today showing newly modified functions in the #FSA package being used with #dplyr or #purrr to efficiently compute abundance (w/ removal/depletion data) or mortality (w/ catch-curve data) for multiple groups (e.g., species, area). #rstats fishr-core-team.github.io/fishR/blog/p...

Atlantic herring is one of the most abundant fishes in the world. In two new studies, we show that some herring in the Baltic Sea have become fish eaters. These piscivorous herring are genetically unique, grow fast, and play an important role in regulating stickleback populations.

Dear population genetics and genomics community. I've created a Population Genomics Feed to help broadly share ideas, discussions, and research bsky.app/profile/did:... #PopGen #PopulationGenomcs and/or #PopulationGenetics will add the post to the feed!

Just posting this to #popgen Here's a link to my notes on population & quantitative genetics: github.com/cooplab/popg... Hoping to extend it more after the winter holidays, as I'm just finishing up teaching the undergrad version of class.
