The entire Ghibli ethos is tied up in the idea of craftsmanship. It's a textual subject of the films (hand carving violins in Whisper of the Heart, for just one example) and the meta work that goes into the films themselves. Their films feature hard workers, and are animated with sweat and tears.

I’ve literally been going off to go do stuff when I want to take a break from something. I remember working on an art piece recently, getting frustrated and was like ‘I’m going to go to the movies for a bit.’ Breaks are important. #chanrambles
