Tremendous new paper by Pleasant & Barclay showing that reciprocity and stake are not separate processes. Helping a cooperative partner even without immediate expectations of social recognition/returns is adaptive insofar as it promotes the availability of the partner for future ventures.

💡 A super interesting paper distinguishing the role of personal and social norms. Shows that social norms are more predictive of economic behavior when decisions are made public and observable.
