Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, is searching for a two-year Visiting Assistant Prof to teach p-chem and other courses. We have a supportive department, great students, and a distinctive academic calendar. Come work with us! Link in the next post. #chemsky @chemjobber.bsky.social

Every year I take a break from most social media, and it's now time for this break. I appreciate Bluesky and I'll see you all in several weeks. I hope you find joy, as I did tonight at a band concert where all 4 of my kids played. Here's a brief thread too. Take care. bsky.app/profile/cmte...

Sale of state assets was what created the first generation of Russian oligarchs. They're running plays from a known playbook

I’m not going to the Joint Address. I will be live posting and chatting with you all here instead. Then going on IG Live after.

I don't think there's precedent for this level of open corruption at the federal level, certainly not in the last 100+ years.

This is it.

Really interesting thought and replies!

No one in DC can bargain in good faith with Trump because he will not follow laws passed by Congress. No one internationally can bargain in good faith with Trump because he will not respect agreements made by the United States. Being a counterparty just makes you a target for another shakedown.

This is very literally what precipitated the first impeachment

This is bad.

Iowa is going to feel this substantially

I cover health and biotech at WIRED, and I'm looking to speak with employees at federal labs whose work is being affected by the credit card freeze. You can reach me securely on Signal at emullin.06. I can honor requests for anonymity.

It seemed like a good day to wear this. So much has happened since this ridiculous event.

Today was a grim, terrible day for the United States and the cause of democracy. Putin, along with other dictators around the world, can finally look at Trump with confidence and think: one of us. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I think I agree. Which is not good.

anyway periodic reminder that congress can at any time they wish, and should tomorrow, end this

An excellent point.

my superpower for predicting things? paying attention to what people with power say and do

My jukebox? Postmodern.

Secretary of Defense Hegseth says he doesn’t know if Russia invaded Ukraine. This you?

Dear Manager, My accomplishments this week: 1. Nibblin' on sponge cake 2. Watchin' the sun bake 3. Strummin' my six string on my front porch swing 4. Searchin' for my long lost shaker of salt 5. Some people claim that there's a woman to blame I know this is somebody's fault Yrs truly, Amy Gleason

Remarkable resignation letter from the Justice Department's chief information officer in the immigration review division — a disabled veteran. Obtained by @propublica.org's Brett Murphy:

Thank you, Sarah. This is a good reminder and encouragement.

I'm looking to see if the cuts & chaos at CDC and NIH have affected any clinical trials or research for drugs for the treatment of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or other serious diseases. If you know anything, please contact me at DavidCorn.99 at Signal. Or if you have any other good stories.

What are the odds a media organization is barred from covering Trump for saying Russia invaded Ukraine? Serious question. Why the AP holding the line is so essential.

Really interesting to see how this has shifted since 2020. 👇

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
