Governor Mills standing on business….

The best part of this truly insane story about the President using $200 MILLION , is the inadvertently honest statement from Noem: “the media will never tell the truth (about immigration).”

Weird call, Mayor Bass, but okay…. Can you fire your recently-appointed, Trump-supporting, anti-immigrant LAPD Chief next? www.cnn.com/2025/02/21/u...

Not content to conscript state and local government resources to combat a phantom invasion, DHS is now enlisting the State Department personnel. Did the DOGE bros approve this? drive.google.com/file/d/1S24J...

"There has been an internal debate over how much the administration can rely on existing government resources to carry out Trump’s promise of a mass deportation, rather than asking for additional money from Congress." www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Very much looking forward to the DOGE “audit” of DHS

BREAKING - Trump intends to de-document 500,000 Haitian immigrants who currently have Temporary Protected Status. Courts will invariably have something to say, but it is imperative thar others soeak up as well… www.axios.com/2025/02/20/t...

positive news…

The single biggest mistake anti-Trumpers are making in resisting DOGE is the desperation to accede to the need for reform of government. MUSK'S OWN COMPANIES are hellholes ridden with corruption and waste and violations of the law. People should be on the ATTACK against private sector misconduct.

You gotta assume The Atlantic Magazine will publish an oped soon blaming this recent turn of events on “groups” advocating for human rights in Palestine www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/u...

Im sorry. What is this? It’s not news. It’s not commentary. It’s not satire. But it is written by the New York Times chief White House correspondent. What is it?

Cc NYT

No surprise here www.foxnews.com/politics/mar... (And not surprised by FOXNEWS getting the “scoop”….)

Crazy how quiet Media & Political Elite have been about our new concentration camps: How many people are in Concentration Camp Gitmo? What countries are they from? Are any American citizens? Are they getting lawyers? Are they being held in humane conditions?

I’m about 2 hours into SNL 50th anniversary content, and I haven’t seen GE Smith yet. What gives?

Ironically, the problem described in article is most pronounced in the area immigrant rights (see eg muñoz/sharry/atlantic), but, or more to the point— and— immigrant rights is scarcely mentioned in the piece…. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/16/u...

Wtf happened to Glenn Greenwald? Does anyone have a theory?

This is the Democrats' playbook in my lifetime, not just for immigration but for any politics of fear and division. It never works, but they can't seem to think of anything else.

This reminds me of David Frum’s seminal Atlantic cover article arguing that immigrants are to blame for American nativism.

Are people ready to admit yet that it was extremely shortsighted to oust Sinema?

Dem consultants: If you don’t mention inflation and betray trans people in literally every post, your career is over. Republican consultants: Hell yeah let’s have the puppy killer build the concentration camps and the corpse defiler fire the cancer docs, our base is going to love you forever.

NYT op-ed: As legal scholars, we really think if you consider these quotes from Blackstone and Coke and this AG opinion and trace the English common law history, there's a colorable argument Trump isn't breaking the law. Trump, same day: I AM BOUND BY NO LAWS!

my kind of hot take ⬇️

“wartime effort”

Cutesy. What the fuck is wrong with these inhumane assholes at Politico It's all a fucking game for: SOPHIA CAI, IRIE SENTNER and BEN JOHANSEN

“Trans people have been here since the beginning of time … We fought in all the wars. We’re creators. We have families and children. We’re just as much a part of this world as anyone else. We’re here to stay, and we will not be erased by a Christo-fascist, neo-Nazi administration.”

That awkward moment when the eugenicists do paid advertising on Twitter lifting up Barack Obama's "felons not families" speech....

The propaganda is working. But they do not support family separation. They do not support deporting peaceful people who have built their lives here. They do not support harassing US citizens. They don't support redirecting law enforcement from investigating real crime.

I can’t say I’ve thought about inflation that much since the US Attorney in the district you and I both live in had to resign because the President wanted to make a corrupt deal with the Mayor, backed by the threat of a dangling DOJ prosecution, to terrorize immigrants and people of color here.

Homan should make (1) his email and (2) the DOJ response public.

I'm again going to highly recommend this interview. I have never focused as much as I probably should have on immigration politics but it's impossible now to avoid its close connections to everything else that is happening. This discussion brings that out very clearly.

Leadership

Prediction: Democrats seeking to be the next President won't get there by occupying the MAGA-lite lane. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

Danielle R. Sassoon, Manhattan’s acting U.S. attorney, resigned on Thursday rather than obey a Justice Department order that she drop a corruption case against New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, that she had championed, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

JD Vance says our obligations radiate out in concentric circles, from family to nation and only then to the world, justifying Trump's immigration policies. I say that argument's a sham. Cosmopolitan liberalism offers a much more defensible map of our obligations: newrepublic.com/article/1914...

"More than two-dozen Christian and Jewish groups [...] filed a federal court lawsuit Tuesday challenging a Trump administration move giving immigration agents more leeway to make arrests at houses of worship." apnews.com/article/immi...

The DOGE anti-waste guys keep trying to find the Pentagon, but they accidentally turn off 395 at Crystal City. It happens to all of us.

If I’m understanding this all correctly, Democrats’ whole strategy is to hope that Trump’s incompetence is greater than his wickedness. Is that right?

New @thedigradio.bsky.social episode: I interviewed @ndlon.bsky.social legal director @cnewman.bsky.social on Trump’s multifaceted far-right attack on migrants as it takes shape during first weeks in office and Dems’ longstanding, ongoing complicity and stupidity. www.thedigradio.com/podcast/depo...
