The White House has ground NIH operations to a halt. E.g., the NHLBI’s CCHS study section, which evaluates large patient-oriented cardiovascular research proposals, was cancelled at the last minute this week. This is bad for science, scientists, patients/the public, and the economy.

“Let them suffer the consequences of their actions.” I see this so much in my mentions, often from anonymous accounts who could be bots or ops for all I know, but whatever they are, they are trying to normalize a false bifurcation. If “they” are suffering, so are people you consider to be “us.”

1/17 [Why] is furosemide susceptible to malabsorption from "gut edema"? When a patient with heart failure is hospitalized with congestion I often hear "let's use IV furosemide; they're probably not absorbing the PO." It's a comment unique to furosemide. But is it accurate?

1/16 🤔Why does carcinoid syndrome affect the right heart valves more often than the left heart valves? The difference is striking. Let's have a look.

1/ On the 3rd day of Pharmacy Advent, here’s today’s med pearl! Inspired by a consult yesterday about warfarin-antibiotic DDIs: Not all antibiotics interact with warfarin as drug interaction checkers might suggest. Let’s dive in! 👇 #medsky #pharmsky #EMsky #HMsky #GPsky #IDsky #emimcc

Thoughts today are with those spending Thanksgiving away from their families in hospital. Special thanks to our extraordinary health care workers, nurses, and doctors here at Stanford and around the world who are there for them every day. But especially on this day, I am so grateful for you all.
