Currently debating whether to participate in the latest round of the game all neurodivergent people play: "I never said that". This one features bonus round: "That is literally the opposite of what I said."

No good news from Sudan. The amount of human suffering this war has caused is hard to even imagine. www.lemonde.fr/en/internati...

Update: it's still too much to ask.

On the hellsite but a good point. It is a very bad idea to create a culture where you can't say it's okay to be male without being called a deranged misogynist. Do you know who doesn't mind being called a deranged misogynist? Actual deranged misogynists.

All news from America right now.

New review: Champion at @livetheatre.bsky.social. The visit of Muhammed Ali actually cover story for a tale of a mixed-race family in South Shields, all trying to keep their heads down in different way @ishydin.bsky.social's characterision does well here. chrisontheatre.wordpress.com/2025/02/24/c...

Caught a squid with just hours to go in Year 1 Winter Day 28. Get the fuck in. (You'll need to play Stardew Valley to get that reference.)

Champion review written, will post tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

Stand down lads. Looks like the techbro Nazis aren't taking over Germany today.

Currently 51 registrations at Buxton. Notable factoid: as of Friday, apparently registrations were level with same time last year. (See buxtonfestivalfringe.blogspot.com/2025/02/all-...) Cause for relief seeing as they've lost 2 of 3 major venues. Seems small venues have come to the rescue again.

Venue hunting for three different fringes today. Sorry, everyone waiting for a reply to an email, you'll have to wait a bit longer.

If I've correctly understood this, Greater Manchester Fringe has gone back to being full open-access. As I've said this before, don't think this is as big a deal as other fringes (as open-access Buxton Fringe is just down the road) but still gets me a bit calmer.

Since everybody's dunking on Amazon TV adaptations today, I'll say my bit. A few months ago some of us did trying watching this Rings of Power series. Got bored after 10 minutes and didn't bother with the rest.

New blog post: Latest odds and sods, somewhat depleted as Bluesky isn't yet quite a good a grapevine as the deceased birdapp. Featuring: Summerhall survives for now, and @edfringe.bsky.social's new chief exec. chrisontheatre.wordpress.com/2025/02/21/o...

I thought this was an excellent idea. Such is the insane prices of Edinburgh that even locals can be priced out. Contrasts with other fringes that have good local participation. This is a way of giving locals a look in.

I take back what I said about the U-turn. Having compared this story to the summary, I'm now think the bit in this story about runs being one or two days, whilst not technically wrong, may be (unintentionally) misleading when you factor in the bit about gaps in the programme.

Worth a read of this. Most notably: some of the apparent gaps in Alphabetti's programme are shows that will only appear if Arts Council applications are successful. I share Ed's frustration with how this works, but it's better this than publicly advertising shows and risking later cancellation.

Can Bezos and Musk have a massive bust-up, simply so we can see James Bond kill Elon Musk?

If a terrible job involves defending your country against a larger superpower, inflicting a million casualties on them and occupying some of their territory, I dread to think what a good job would mean for Putin.

Oh, I missed this. This is news. Alphabetti Theatre under the new AD has done a full-blown U-turn on its default programming policy of 3-week runs. Will need to think about one to decide what I make of it. www.thestage.co.uk/news/alphabe...

Read the letter a bit more. Oh dear. Point 3 is clearly getting the excuses in early for their desired endgame of "It's not censorship when we do it".

(As a reminder, I thought that production of Midsummer Night's Dream sounded shit, and I would not have commissioned that if I knew they were going to pull those sort of stunts. But that was not valid reason to pull the production mid-rehearsal, and if another theatre wants it, that's their right.)

If I had time, I would go down the list and see how many of the signatories have previously supported censorship of artists they didn't like. www.thestage.co.uk/news/maxine-...

You lied, Michael Fish. You said the sun would finally come out this morning.

Fuck, I'm agreeing with Priti Patel.

This also means we're approaching the final number for entries that will be going in the paper programme, currently at 625. How many entries will there be after the paper programme deadline? At the moment, that's anyone's guess.

It's Not Cluedo is now in the Brighton Fringe listings. I can now look forward to checking my ticket sales obsessively every five minutes for the next three months. www.brightonfringe.org/events/its-n...

Not sure how this has happened, but it's come to my attention that some people have interpreted the Durham Free Fringe news as a foreshadowing of more explosive announcements. I assure you, there is no hidden subtext. There's nothing else up my sleeve that I haven't told you yet.
