Keep the coal in the hole, people. Climate change is the biggest threat to humankind, and to be burning coal in the 21st century is just silly.

This is how the far right works. John Carnegie, a fossil fuel lobbyist, was put on the Board of EECA: "Carnegie had criticised one of [EECA's] functions - giving out grants helping companies get off coal and gas - because it was shrinking demand for fossil fuels" www.rnz.co.nz/news/environ...

The NZ govt’s disdain for climate is abundantly clear #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/environ...

Good to see media finally picking up on the fact the govt has put a fossil fuel lobbyist who hates renewable on the board of EECA. As set out in Green Party release in December www.greens.org.nz/fossil_fuel_...

"The Minister could look to the sky and pray for more rain, or he could look to the sky and see an answer to our energy security issues and dismal economic growth stats in the form of cheap, abundant solar energy." #nzpol newsroom.co.nz/2025/02/28/l...

Climate Minister Simon Watts says #climate targets "more for big countries", so we don't have to meet ours. NOPE. The countries with emissions profiles like ours all add up to ONE THIRD of global emissions. We don't get to skive off, esp b/c we are in OECD #nzpol www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV_8...

You first.

It’s a no-brainer

Precious biodiversity and unique landscape dug up to produce miniscule income for the government and add to the climate crisis, while Bathurst, a Singaporean & Aussie-owned company pockets the profits offshore #nzpol youtu.be/faoNND9i4Jg?...

"The photovoltaic panels were expected to provide shelter and shade for the sheep, while also helping to retain moisture in the ground during the hottest months of the year." sounds like a win win www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines...

It's worth noting that NOT EVEN AUSTRALIA lists "metallurgical coal" as a critical mineral, despite its many mines. Nor gold. Nor phosphate. So while Shane Jones and Luxon keep banging on about Australia's minerals, they need to take a long hard look at what the Australians are doing. #nzpol
