Not hypothetical anymore

The vote tally for the vote for cloture on the House CR: www.senate.gov/legislative/...

Gary Peters voted yes to cloture on the republican continuing resolution.

The new Philosophy Tube is about Nietzsche, and using his work to understand the MAGA movement youtu.be/oI4fSxkqdLU?...

The real choice Democrats face is not between a continuing resolution that allows the government to function normally or a government shutdown. Under the Trump regime, the government is not functioning normally. It is already shutting down. Why vote to legitimize Trump's coup?

Jesus says that whatever we do to the poor and the hurting and the hungry we do to him. That should be a terrifying proposition to Republicans who claim the Christian faith or call the American Conservative Church home. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/the-christ...

Social security is a set of trust funds with a balance of about $2.7 trillion as of December 2024. We are the source of these funds. It belongs to us. These funds should be protected so we can protect each other. www.ssa.gov/oact/progdat...

Don’t tell me that Trump/Musk are not trying to destroy Social Security. 30,000 people died last year while waiting to get their benefits. Under this new policy, those numbers will skyrocket. We can’t kill seniors so that billionaires get their tax breaks.

BREAKING: DOGE is considering no longer letting senior citizens file Social Security claims over the phone, and requiring them to do it online or in person. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Last night, 99% of House Republicans voted to codify the Trump-Musk coup. Every Democrat except Rep. Golden stood united against this extreme MAGA spending bill. Senate Democrats still have the power to stop this sham of a government funding bill by holding the line. Contact your senators ASAP. 👇

Trump barnstormed Michigan screaming that EVs would ‘kill the auto industry.’ Now, just months later, he’s starring in commercials promoting them. The hypocrisy is off the charts.

The cover-up… USAID officials were ordered to destroy classified documents, raising concerns about compliance with federal law. An internal email sent to remaining bureau leaders at the agency’s Washington headquarters provided guidance on “clearing our classified safes and personnel documents.”

This may be the biggest free speech crisis in living memory. The president now bragging about detaining a lawful permanent resident and smearing him as 'pro Hamas', no outlining any specific crimes he is accused of or charged with. This is what a fascist takeover looks like.

Again, the Secretary of State has no authority to “revoke” green cards.

Fascism is here. The list of words Trump is banning from government is the most stunning document of our time. Click the image below to see how many words Trump and Musk have canceled as part of their new Reich. 🔗: www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

A reminder that this entire Trans Panic thing is just another shitty step in a long history of fake panics completely invented by political hacks. Trans people are very likely not affecting your lives at all and they certainly are not the cause of any problems on a national level. It's BULLSHIT.

Uses the word "proudly" in the first sentence. Says it is the "first arrest of many to come" in the second sentence. If you think this ends with "Hamas Students" you are not paying attention

I just want to acknowledge my brilliant colleague, Zeteo political correspondent @premthakker.bsky.social, who broke the story of the arrest and detention of permanent resident Mahmoud Khalil by ICE today. Support independent journalism. Subscribe to Zeteo, as a paid subscriber:

Rep Schweikert asks "why can't we have an honest conversation?" Lets start with YOU. When talking about H.Con.Res.14, you said "the bill does not mention Medicaid or Medicare once". Because it is hidden in the $880B in cuts from Energy and Commerce. CBO says E&C only has $581B w/o cuts to Medicaid.

“…the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.” - FDR, 1938

“Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic,” they said. “That means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice and a third, a fourth. Then what happens?”

At this time next week, your senators and representative will be back home for recess — and we've got a lot of events planned to get their attention. Whether your elected officials are Democrats or Republicans, you've got a role to play right now. Please join us: indivisible.org/musk...

We’re witnessing Shock & Awe doctrine—psychological warfare to paralyze the masses with chaos and outrage, controlling media, government, and finance to push injustice to new extremes. Outrage must be channeled into action. Take to the streets.

Any time you see an article frame something as "took action against transgender sports," do more digging. 75% of the time, whatever they are talking about also bans trans people from bathrooms/medical care/targets trans adults. Sports is just a way to frame it as morally acceptable.

Federal marshals forced entry into the US African Development Foundation and escorted Musk staffers inside, after agency employees resisted their entry. Once inside, they changed the federal agency’s locks. Musk staffers were seen plugging in an external hard drive and going through everything.

Don't want to be flooded with angry calls? Maybe stand up for Michiganders instead of sucking up to Trump

Congressman Jack Bergman’s constituents held a town hall tonight—because their cowardly congressman refused. He’s happy to cash a taxpayer-funded paycheck but too scared to face the people he’s supposed to represent. Pathetic.
