Oh god, I’m onto Crossroads of Twilight now and I have to say all this Camelyn-politicking is…not my favourite! I have wanted to rattle the youngsters from time to time, but I took that as deliberate and part of the fun.
You’ll hear me shout if that tramp Renna gets a redemption arc!!

I think it’s part of its charm. They start out as teenage kids, who have to help save the world, and despite being good hearted people doing their best, they still need guidance from time to time. Kind of a running WoT theme that “massively OP doesn’t automatically equal wisdom/leadership skills”

It’s like when my friend and I rewatched the Fresh Prince a couple of years ago, and realised we were old gits now because we kept taking Uncle Phil’s side 😂
I do actually like that the youngins are flawed and often a bit daft - it’s the realistic side of the whole thing.

I bloody love Cadsuane. She just appears out of retirement like “RIGHT. You bloody children are making a horses arse of this. You need a proper grown up to sort you all out”.
If I’d read it first as a teenager/20 something I might have felt different but as an adult reading it I’m like: well…yes!

Oh GOD!! Loool.
Well whatever happens I’m excited to get to it. Whether it have me chucking my kindle in the sea in outrage, or cheering like when Joffrey got his comeuppance in GoT!

Kind of with you on this one, but mainly because much as I love WoT, I just cannot buy the whole Rand-love-…octagon…thing part of the story.
Magical superpowers and monsters are honestly more believable.

Thanks so much for posting this! I only got started on WoT fairly recently. This will keep me occupied for even longer than I thought! 😃

I’ve only read books 1-7, but probably will be Semirhage. Sounds like she’s just going to be all like “I’m evil AF and I’m going to OWN it”. I do like Graendal though.

Id either have done pretty well, or been out on my ear in record time, depending on who was in charge.
If I actually respected them : do well. If I didn’t, but had to obey them anyway, arsehole streak a mile wide comes out and I’m out on my ear. No middle ground whatsoever. 😂

Hope everybody is OK, it sounds like it got pretty horrendous. My parents said there are roofs blown off buildings and all sorts back home. Stay safe!

I would like somebody to explain to me, because I CANNOT get my head around it, how the FUCK the Mail was still allowed to exist and operate after their behaviour in the 1930’s.
And why anybody still buys /reads it after that.

I think she’ll find the school fees are a good bit higher there!

It’s perfect, with his little woodland creatures too. Gift rock type from his best friend is a nice touch, you thought of everything here!

Adorable! (Friendship evolution definitely seems like a real Elrond thing). 😃❤️

Yes, it’s an earlier one of his books. Don’t want to be spoilery here so I’ll just say it also features the magical walled town, and leave it at that.

The decent people must be going round the absolute bend over there, poor souls!
I’d just like to not hear about the horrible toxic American politics for a while. Sick of all the rest of us being dragged up the garden path with it.

Oh god is it not ever!
At this point I’m cheering for the Wise ones to keep trying to marry her off, she needs some grown up women to do an intervention here and get her away from that silly poser. 🤢

Honestly I can’t say much knowing how daft I was at that age, but good grief she could do better!!
She needs a dose of that sheep root potion that gets fed to silly lovesick teenagers back in her home town…

That was my first book of 2025, I really enjoyed it. Have you read Hard Boiled Wonderland?

The amount of posts I’ve seen on here “RIP TikTok…” as if it’s completely shut down and not just one country kicked itself out!
Meanwhile every other country in the world are just business as usual on there. I do feel sorry for the decent folks in USA, but yes: SO sick of that country’s nonsense.

I do love Nynaeve, stubborn bissom though she is! Eaganin was an interesting character, I’m hoping to hear more of her later on. Bashere is awesome.

I hope so too. Curious to see who ends up playing Bashere (my fan casting is Oded Fehr, but I know the chance of that is slim to none, so happy to give whoever it is the benefit of the doubt).
Looking forward to seeing the shows take on it all!

I’m enjoying these books so much, long prologues included!
Love the fact it’s huge series of hefty books - this will keep me entertained for ages.
The fan club on here seem like a good crowd too, which is nice. 😃

Wims dad made me smile! That was 100% for all of us with boring grown up jobs, enjoying our precious Sci-Fi and fantasy books/TV shows.

I was full on jumping up shouting “Go on my lass, GET HER!!” When she did Renna in, lol. That, for me was a show > book moment. (I’ve not cheered like that at an evil character getting their comeuppance since Joffrey).
Nynaeve is a favorite book character and I’m happy TV version did her justice.

I think I actually prefer TV Egwene a little bit tbh! I’m enjoying all the main casts portrayals of the characters so far though, they’re doing such a good job. (Zoe’s Nynaeve-stubborn-face is so spot on 😂).

Jesus Christ… Not embarrassed, completely and utterly DISGRACED.
I’m only Gen X by a few weeks, I wonder if the Millenials will let me defect. 😬

Definitely, they all look like great casting to me. Rhuarc being so handsome is a little bit of a surprise to me, but certainly not a bad one! Can’t wait to see them all in character. 😃

I love it!! Faile looks very Faile like, and Rhuarc is a silver-fox-and-a-half!

I’m only halfway through Lord of Chaos, but I really enjoy the show and think it has kept the main themes quite well, even if I do wish it was a season per book. The characters are also quite faithful to the book versions.
I do get the disappointment, been there - but this isn’t one of those cases.

It’s delightful. Yes, it’s aimed at kids but it still a fun and enjoyable show!

Funnily enough I recently had a similar argument about a different fantasy TV series I also like.
I’d LOVE 20 episodes of WoT per season, but even with that most TV series would be horrible in practice if they tried to replicate books exactly. What works on screen =/= what works in a book.
