This thread of old covers is wonderful for design inspiration

I wish more people were talking about egg prices as less of a “muh egg prices!” thing and more about the fact that there is an organized egg cartel that is illegally price gouging and almost certainly illegally price fixing and reaping massive, gigantic profits.

This is getting at why I appreciate #TeslaTakeDown - wagingnonviolence.org/ipra/2025/02...

I wrote about how particularly ridiculous it is that Senate Democrats, led by Dick Durbin, think the priority should be repealing Section 230 and undermining the very open internet we need more than ever right now. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/21/w...

Working at keeping to this focus. One action a day no matter how small.

If you're trying to figure out what to do right now, my advice is to just pick a thing that you think might be useful in some way, however small, and do it. Doing a thing leads you to doing another, bigger thing, and prepares you for that next thing.

my passport has an F on it. if you value my friendship or my personhood and live in the US please fill this out

I keep seeing people just do something they think maybe would be helpful and watching that snowball and it's just amazing. Don't wait for permission, don't wait to be invited. Pick something you think needs to happen and that you can do, and do that thing.

It's exhausting having to fight not just the GOP but also the Dems trying to make it worse.

The Senate Committee on the Judiciary met on a bill that would break Section 230 and enforce age verification on websites. We need to stop this as it'd grant Trump the power to censor anything they deem obscene — LGBTA+, abortion info, etc. Call your senators www.judiciary.senate.gov/committee-ac...

The Dems will do anything, literally anything, but address the active coup taking place in this country. An unelected billionaire is brute-forcing access to taxpayer information but yeah Section 230 is the real pressing threat today. Idiots. www.judiciary.senate.gov/committee-ac...

thread of anti-klan cartoons from 100+ years ago

@ositanwanevu.bsky.social on how Trumpism is actually fairly easy to understand: "a Republican president...is using extralegal means to enact longstanding parts of the Republican agenda and the conservative project – including, chiefly, the crippling of the federal government."

There’s an active fascist takeover going on. Let’s check in with the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary committee to see how they’re resisting it. Oh… oh I see. They’re trying to blow up Section 230 and open the floodgates for Trump to censor the Internet. Inspiring!

In Sinclair Lewis's "It Can't Happen Here," (1935) the fascist who got elected President of the United States writes in his autobiography about his realization, early in life, that being an obnoxious dunce got him far more attention than being a smart and decent person.

this entire thread tho

Clown slime

Measles is back. Weeee!! If you were born 1963-1989 you should consider getting a second dose of MMR against measles. Prior to 1989, they only gave 1 dose which isn’t sufficient and has probably worn off. From 1963-67 the vaccine had two versions, one didn’t work. www.cnn.com/2019/04/19/h...

time to dig up the @adamkotsko.bsky.social tweet

Trump is weaponizing financial payments: here's what you can do. "Put more bluntly: the Trump administration is trying to turn private banks into enforcers ... If banks give in, it will be an enormous and dangerous step." www.programmablemutter.com/p/trump-is-w...

This is where you go to tell the National Park Service to restore the word "transgender" in its entry on the Stonewall monument. (Scroll down.)

"Our party must act swiftly. There’s no time for hesitation. Or delay. Or dawdling. Or dragging our feet. Or indecision. Or dilly-dallying. Or stalling. Or hemming and hawing. Or equivocation. Or grandstanding. Or mincing words. Or slow-walking. Or procrastinating."

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

"Sounds Boring, Could Kill You" is really the name of the game this month.

This. Let's normalize not letting racists be the main character when black people are doing things. Sometimes you hear more about the racist backlash than the activity itself. If you really want to make those dudes mad, ignore them - this is just a way for them to get attention for nothing.

Since it's Monday morning and we're back to thinking about indirects. 🧵 includes an explanatory post and links to data, too. Thank you @jamessmurphy.bsky.social

Call your representatives, get your family and friends to call your representatives. It matters. Even if you think “oh they won’t listen they are GOP” it matters. 5calls.org
