Good casting! In terms of Khan, I’d be more interested in a story set on earth during the eugenics wars, but happy to have Nic Meyer telling a story he wants to tell again in Trek.

My dad’s cousin. Never met him, but always cool having a real deal ballplayer in the family. My dad and our uncle once took my older brother to see Jamie play and at the end of the game my Uncle went to go meet Jamie in the locker room and neither my uncle or my dad thought to bring my brother with

This guy is so embarrassing and really emphasises how much damage is being done because the Democrats insist on running their leadership selection as a Make a Wish program

I was not interested in Skeleton Crew at all, the premise Stranger Things/80s Amblin in Star Wars was a huge turn off, but once we get past the first episode and we meet Jude Law though it sheds that pretence and it becomes clear it is actually Treasure Island in Star Wars and I actually loved it.

Star Trek Section 31. Woof. Embarrassingly bad. Really only watched it because I like the idea of Star Trek TV movies filling in gaps, but this was a bad way to try and get that concept rolling.

Look my cope is that things are gonna get incredibly stupid. Hopefully as few people are hurt as possible, but my hope is that things are so stupid that people finally wake up and inoculate themselves to the bullshit. Especially when things don’t suddenly get cheaper and the economy tanks.

@thedigitalbits.bsky.social is there any word of William Friedkin’s Rampage coming out on 4K? Saw a reddit thread about it a year ago, but could not see any news

The first time I tried watching David Lynch I was in High School and I rejected his work as weird for weird sake. A few years later in the very early days of streaming, I ran out of tv to watch and the CBS website had all of Twin Peaks available for free. I decided to give it a go and by the start

Over the past 18 months I watched basically every movie Clint Eastwood ever starred in. I didn’t rewatch the Dollars trilogy or High Plains Drifter as those are old favourites, nor Josey Wales because I can’t abide lost cause romanticism, but I watched pretty everything else and they all rule

After reading Shogun, I plowed into James Clavell’s Taipan. It took me longer to sink into it, but eventually I very much did and I cannot emphasise enough how great Clavell is at writing the coolest dudes who ever lived. From these two books alone he is very much the master of dudes rock fiction

Most definitely Terminator 2. I think I would have been 6 or 7. I know I watched the first Terminator when I was 8 and I definitely saw T2 first. Memory of watching with my older brother as the endoskeleton stepping on a skull at the beginning seared into my brain.

After the last few months being immersed in Shogun - first reading the book then watching both miniseries, I watched Martin Scorsese’s Silence for the first time. Maybe it is my personal anti-church views, maybe my bias against the Portugese as they’re villains in Shogun…

Look, I get all the concerns about this sort of tech, but honestly I can’t help it I kind of loved this short. It is a damn shame that Shatner remains a vibrant performer and he has not reprised Captain Kirk in 30 years. It may be fan service, but it worked, I was moved.

Dune: Prophecy - I have no idea how it will appeal to casuals, but I always thought it was a great idea to use a tv show to delve deeper into the world building that would bog down a movie. The Bene Gesserit are one of Frank Herbert’s most interesting creations and worthy of expanding on.

I finally watched Paint Your Wagon 26 years after seeing The Simpsons joke for the first time and the movie is actually pretty good! Lee Marvin is in full on whacky drunk mode, Clint is the straight man, they have a weird throuple relationship with Jean Seberg. It’s kind of Deadwood the Musical

Name your favorites from Star Trek: Uniform: WoK Spock: Nimoy (tho Ethan Peck is good) Couple: Worf and Jadzia Character: Worf Ship: Enterprise NX-01 Villain: Gul Dukat Series: DS9 Captain: Kirk Movie: WoK Theme: TNG Guest: Mark Lenard as Sarek

repost with your favourite random line from a movie
