"The Electric State" As the city of Hobart, Tasmania, progressed into a new century, the Hobart Gas Company pivoted to electricity generation. It added steam-driven turbo alternators from 1901, and built this chimney to vent steam vapour and coal fumes. 🧵

"I Want More Dynamics From the Brass!" Its brass cladding and cylinder appearance inspired by an historic gas holder tank built nearby in 1854 (and now long-gone), Federation Concert Hall in Hobart, Tasmania, is home to the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

"It's Right Two Times a Day" The Art Deco styled T&G Building was constructed by the T&G (Temperance and General) Mutual Life Society of Australia in the 1930s. The photo was, in fact, taken at 9:20am.

"MoPOP: Contours Amidst the Madness, Five Years Ago." The Museum of Pop Culture, built next to the Space Needle in Seattle, was designed by architect Frank O. Gehry. 3,000 panels, made up of 21 thousand individually cut and shaped stainless steel and painted aluminum shingles, blanket the building.
