So, I’m watching “MooseTV” live from Sweden. Riddle me this: why is geese the plural of goose but moose is the plural of moose? I’ve seen one so far. I want to know what to say on the off chance I see another one. That’s me. I like to be prepared.

Believe it or not, there are lots of things I’ve never heard of 😱 Doesn’t mean they aren’t any good. If you want affordable colleges & a quality education for your student, check out the schools off the beaten path. You can thank me later. www.cnbc.com/2025/04/16/w...

Will this be enough to provide the necessary support to students, families and schools 🤞🏽 www.usatoday.com/story/graphi...

There have been times that I have decided I’m going to rearrange a room. I move the furniture & objects around. Sit with it. Then move them again. More times than not, I end up with things in almost the original layout…because it just worked. 🤔 Just wanted to share that.

I call this the “Get in Where You Fit In” trend. Lots of students want what I call a “rah rah” school but can’t get in and/or afford the schools that have traditionally been the go to for this social atmosphere. More families are following affordability. I hope the resident students benefit.

As I watched the news today, they spoke about the coming EO to close the DOE. It reminded me of a recent visit to my local Kohl’s. Signs everywhere said “Store closing. Everything must go including fixtures.” Folks waited in long lines up to get that bits or mech at 70% off. 1/n

You know, this reminds me of something I say a lot to parents. “You can’t wait until junior or senior year of high school to think about financial aid and paying for college.” If we dodge these bullets this go ‘round with the budget, you still need to proactively plan ahead.

Most folks don’t understand how aid works. Right now financial aid eligibility is relative to cost of attendance at the colleges on a student list. So, a student might be eligible for more aid at a more expensive college than at a less expensive one. Apparently, that’s too generous.🧵 1/2

Normally, I aim to do the live stream of College Aid Night at Noon on the second Thursday of each month. However, I will be postponing the show to next Thursday. Hope you will still be able to hook me. There will be so much to talk about. So much to share.

Is it really a “restoration” of PSLF? 🤔

Even before the Trump administration's financial threats for colleges, higher ed was belt-tightening. Robert Kelchen explains. chroni.cl/4bnm9S2

Whomp! There it is. My first take away is that families must begin thinking about paying for college much further up stream. Secondly, families must temper college choices with a view to affordability. Next week, I’ll be live streaming again about what policy changes might mean for each of us.

At this point, I’ll try almost anything

Amid Federal Upheaval, a Pell Shortfall Looms The Pell Grant is facing a projected $2.7 billion budget shortfall, its first in over a decade. With the Education Department in turmoil and Trump slashing spending, access advocates worry cuts may be... #HigherEd #EDUSky #AcademicSky bit.ly/41vbTnN

As I dive deeper and deeper into my research on the implications that new policies being implemented or considered will impact families paying for college, I am reminded of how interdependent we are and why we must look out for each other. That’s it. Now, back into the rabbit hole I go.

Happy Belated National Drink Wine Day! Don’t know how I let that get by me but the good news is we can still enjoy a glass of wine and submit financial aid forms. I don’t recommend doing them in that order but you do you 😜

Today is Happy Love Your Pet Day! I have heard that some colleges and universities allow students to keep their pets in student housing with them?! I can see why that might be high on the list of considerations when picking a school. Let me know if you know of an institution that does.

As President Trump tries to slash spending across the federal government, many colleges are considering their own freezes and cuts. chroni.cl/43223dX

Last Thursday, I introduced the withholding of federal financial aid as a possibility. Today, I learned of this. Being right, isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. 😔
