Watching the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who before crashing for the night. (I have avoided any spoilers or news or reaction to this, so please don't spoil anything, and if you feel the need to unload a negative review before I have even watched it, please don't.)

When I first saw this post this morning, I immediately looked up where Wally Wood was born. Minnesota, of course.

Thomas Nast first used Shakespeare’s Hamlet to skewer the corrupt New York senator William Tweed (better known as Boss Tweed) in the April 16, 1870, issue of Harper's Weekly. (Nast would go on to use Hamlet to lampoon Tweed 14 times.)

Today is the birthday Charlie Chaplin, born on April 16, 1889. At one point there was a newspaper comic strip based on him, Charlie Chaplin’s Comic Capers, which ran from 1915 to 1917. One of the cartoonists who worked on it was E.C. Segar, the creator of Popeye.

Gasoline Alley by Frank King from April 16, 1922.

Thirtieth book finished in 2025. This was delightful.

Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay from April 15, 1906.

While there's no word on an American collection yet, the Gaelic translation of my FLASH GORDON strips, translated by @garymoloney.bsky.social, will be collected in print! Heck of a thing

Today is the birthday of artist Jerry Grandenetti (April 15, 1926-Feb. 19, 2010). Most remembered for his work on Will Eisner's the Spirit and DC's war titles, and for cocreating Prez.

When the stack of books you own that you still need to read is ridiculously large, but you're thinking of rereading all of Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo series.
