The saddest part about Iraq, Ukraine, Iran, etc. is that its effectively kneecapped Non-Proliferation. If the only way for you to avoid invasion and attack is having a pocket nuke, treaties be damned, then that's what countries will go for. US, Russia, and Israel have shown treaties are useless

A lot of AI hype feels like trying to make fetch happen. They point to Meta trying to poach OpenAI Engineers, and I point out how much Meta threw at Metaverse only for that to largely be a flop. OpenAI still struggled to monetize their product. Yet they want us to believe its AGI/Sentient. Fetch!

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Digging into the Mars Excursion Module crewed Mars lander for General Electric's 1967 Nuclear-Electric Propulsion Mars mission study. Funny thing - they describe the MEM in some detail, then add a note to the effect that it won't work because Mariner IV found the martian atmosphere to be too thin.
