Choosing a health plan shouldn’t mean sacrificing access to necessary care. It’s time to ensure Medicare works for everyone, no matter their health needs.

For Denver Health alone, the state’s flagship safety net institution, major cuts could cost close to $1B out of its $1.5B budget. “We can't afford to do that. We'd have to cut services, we'd have to lay off employees,” said Donna Lynne, its CEO. #Medicaid #healthpolicy

Medicaid isn’t just about access to health care coverage—it’s about economic stability for families and communities. See our explainer to get caught up on all the program does to improve the health of our nation.

Whether Congress pursues Medicaid block grants, per capita caps, or work mandates, the changes would affect all #Medicaid enrollees—that includes children, older adults & people w/ disabilities—while fundamentally altering the nation’s largest #publichealth insurer. https://buff.ly/4b39T9f

Many small-business workers across America face higher health insurance costs — and often receive less financial protection in return — than their counterparts at larger companies. Our new report explores why and what can be done to fix it.

You may know that every year, 72 million Americans get health insurance & care thanks to #Medicaid. But many Americans don’t know this. Part of my work involves helping people understand how #healthcare & health policies work, or don’t work. To that end, I'm asking you to share this explainer video.

If Medicaid costs are increasingly shifted to states, will Americans face higher state taxes or reduced access to care? See Sara Rosenbaum and @abarkoff.bsky.social in @healthaffairs.bsky.social for insights on what lies ahead for #Medicaid in budget reconciliation.

About 6,500 people were enrolled in GA Pathways as of late January... the program has cost more than $57M in state & federal funds through December, with most of that money going toward program administration, not benefits. kffhealthnews.org/news/article... #Medicaid #healthpolicy

Work requirements for Medicaid may return. Research shows they risk health coverage loss for low-income Americans without achieving meaningful employment gains. See our explainer to understand why work requirements don’t work.

#Medicaid is a pillar of U.S. health care. Deep funding cuts don’t just affect enrollees—they disrupt entire health systems. See Sara Rosenbaum and Alison Barkoff in Health Affairs for how: www.healthaffairs.org/content/fore... #healthpolicy

Not everyone experiences health care the same way, and this has real consequences. High-quality care for all isn’t a distant ideal—it’s an achievable goal. But we have to start by tackling the systemic discrimination that undermines care for millions of Americans.

Adding work requirements to #Medicaid is on the table for federal lawmakers. Let's revisit what the evidence shows... www.commonwealthfund.org/publications...

With potential funding cuts and eligibility changes on the horizon, now is the time to understand how these policies impact millions of Americans. For clear, fact-based insights into Medicaid’s role in the U.S. health system, see this article: lnkd.in/eKS7JzHp

Among underinsured Americans, 66% have employer-sponsored health plans with out-of-pocket costs so high it keeps many from accessing needed care. Said another way, many people with health coverage still cannot afford health care in the U.S.

Medicaid covers more than 72M Americans, from kids to seniors. It ensures even more people get the care they need without financial strain. See our explainer on the #Medicaid program to get yourself up to speed, or just refresh yourself on its value, here ⬇️

Community health centers, a vital lifeline to health care for over 32 million Americans, offer more than just #primarycare. In 2022, over 40 million patient visits were for behavioral health care, more than any other health condition. #CHCs

Community health centers (CHCs) are still locked out of federal grant dollars, despite the pause on the funding freeze. What's the ripple effect? CHCs can't pay their employees and could be forced to close certain services--or close down entirely. www.vpm.org/news/2025-02...

Health care costs shouldn’t stand in the way of healthy aging. To help ensure every senior has affordable access to the care they need, we looked abroad to see how other nations reduce costs and improve access.

You might know that every year, 72 million Americans get health insurance and health care thanks to #Medicaid. But most Americans don’t know this. Please take a moment to watch our short video explaining how the Medicaid works & who it helps, and please consider sharing it with your people!

“The Affordable Care Act has covered about 25 million more people and cut the uninsured rate in half. The next big challenge is that high costs are a serious problem for many Americans, regardless of the kind of insurance they have.” - @sararcollins.bsky.social

The health care system is at a crossroads. In my latest video, I highlight the need for courage to confront profit-driven care, unaffordable access, and disparities that continue to shortchange Americans. It's time to act. Together, we can make 2025 a year of meaningful change.

Many people believe Medicare or #Medicaid will cover the cost of assisted living or a nursing home when they get older. But #Medicare doesn’t apply to these services & Medicaid benefits don’t kick in until you’ve spent your savings down to $2K. A new program in Washington State may offer a solution.

As Congress considers debilitating cuts to Medicaid, our new @georgetownccf.bsky.social report finds that families in rural areas are more likely to rely on #Medicaid for their coverage than in metro areas. The report and data for your state are here: ccf.georgetown.edu/2025/01/15/m...

Great progress with ACA but coverage does not meaningful access make. When #healthcare is not affordable, foregoing care, not getting meds, and medical debt are all consequences. Bad for all Americans, but worse for some. Time to take this on. ⁦
