I can only imagine knowing they were going to ruin Gaiman's work and persona for millions of fans was an extra layer of trauma for the women he abused. I'm so glad they were brave enough to say something. That's the behavior of a monster who was not going to stop. They likely saved dozens of others.

There is no timeline of recovery from autistic burnout. It can be days, it could be months, it could be a lifetime of struggle and effort. Today might be a good day, while tomorrow might be the worst yet.
